though a lot of you cannot relate because you've never walked in our shoes to know and understand how deep racism really is. It's everywhere for us, probably not so much for whites. In commercials, in clothes, on tv, in the movies, and yes...even in this so called sponge. Can you dig it? No, you can't dig it if you haven't experienced it and lived with it....
That is the most preposterous thing I have ever read. You were talking about experiencing slavery??? Have you, yourself? This whole racist fight is over a silly sponge, AND there are white versions of these sponges.... And white people don't experience racism?... This article was found on a news website for 'black america' on 'black planet.' 1) everyone is an American.. sorry if you think that you are so privileged that you can have your own 'america' and 2) if that website was for "white america" and on 'white planet' it would get scrutinized for being racist.
White people aren't the only people who are racist and not everything they do is to ruin the black community. Hate to remind you of that..
My hint for you ; stop thinking that everyone is out to ruin you and take a joke.
What if an overweight person complained about a doll that came with little fast food pieces because the doll was a little more 'big-boned' than a barbie doll????? That would be ridiculous right?! And if you said yes, you can now be pronounced a hypocrite because that situation is just as ridiculous as a fight over sponges.

Well, if you consider everything that white people have done to black people since the beginning of time then maybe the people that don't see it as a problem would be able to see the problem. We were forced into slavery, to do white people's chores, their cooking, their cleaning, their work, raise their children, raped by them, accused by them, and the list does go on. When we finally did get what they like to call "freedom" which is hardly freedom at all from most of our stand points, the only jobs they would give us is doing their cleaning, their cooking, their work, raising their babies, and still being raped by them and accused???...Then this mockery of a so called sponge is on the market and it's okay? Get out of here with all that....though a lot of you cannot relate because you've never walked in our shoes to know and understand how deep racism really is. It's everywhere for us, probably not so much for whites. In commercials, in clothes, on tv, in the movies, and yes...even in this so called sponge. Can you dig it? No, you can't dig it if you haven't experienced it and lived with it.

Before everyone takes offense. Take a second and go to the company's actual website. Not only are there 4 types of these sponges, the other two are caucasion (one male; one female). The others are punk (white male) and groovy (white female). See, this is the very reason things get blown out of proportion all the time these days. If people would take their own time and do research for themselves, all the drama that's unnecessary would stop. There's so much other stuff going on in the world that need attention and seriousness of the African-American culture. People, wake up and read for yourself!!

It would be less offensive if the characters were not only black, but representative of every nation and culture. The fact that the "fun" is being had at the expense of only one culture or race, does indeed make it racist.
