Had the world read court transcripts from witnesses under oath, the percentage would not be this high based on facts. It is a very unfortunate situation. First and foremost, the Cook County Detectives DID NOT pursue any other person in this case, besides the obvious. A marriage gone bad and the statement from Julia Hudson. She stated he threatened her more than "two dozen times", "25, 26 times", the threat verbatim was, "I will kill your entire family, and you will be the last to die". Ask yourself, is this even believable? Mr. Balfour apparently had moved on, had not one or two but three different women he was seeing, in addition to the intimate relationship with his wife. The night before the tragedy was Julia's birthday. She sent a text to William asking him to come over. He did not arrive until the next morning, minutes before she had to leave for work. Her confrontations with William about the other women. How come this couldn't have been a scorned woman. Seeking revenge. Her plea for the return of her son, included, "if you have beef with me take it up with me. My son didn't have anything to do with it". Who has beef with her should have been the question. But yet she informed the police that William could have done this. At the time he is already in police custody. There are witnesses who visually seen the white SUV, being driven on at least two occasions after the apprehension of Balfour. Two men were seen driving this SUV. If you read court testimony, witnesses provide a timeline and his day appeared to be a typical day. No one stated that he appeared anxious or nervous, EXCEPT when he was having car trouble. A witness stated that an hour after he heard gunfire, William showed up, wanting to hang out. Did not appear nervious or anxious. Was that enough time, to kill 3 people. Drive 10 miles with one and get rid of all the evidence. There is no DNA or witnesses. Just a threatening statement from the estranged wife. The window period before the bodies were found was approximately 6 hours. The unfortunate thing is, Cook Count has an extremely high, wrongful conviction rate (BGA.com). Governor Ryan's decision to overtune the Death Penalty in Illinois was in part due to how many innocent people with convictions in Cook County, due to the negligent behavior in the investigations by the police department. Jason Hudson's questionable lifestyle, affliations with a street gang, and a known drug dealer, who was SHOT 5 TIMES in Michigan due to his drug business. The was a case in Memphis, the Jessie Dotson case, it was presumed that the street gang had sent a black out team to kill Jessie's brother and his family due to an owed drug debt. How do we know that this isn't the case here. There was a drug raid and a witness who stated under oath that her sold drugs out of that house from the hours of 4pm-4am. Julia stated that she unlocked the door when she arrived home, only to find her mother, deceased. There were several people with keys to the house. Those keys were not accounted for, nor was any of those people that had keys were even questioned. William was arrested and his personal property was confiscated. There were 28 items. None consisted of a "single GM" key. But yet a month later, this "single GM" key was added to his personal property. The Cook County Detectives did not look for anyone else in this case. If I were Jennifer Hudson, instead of praising the Cook County detectives and prosecutors for a job well done, I would have felt a lot better knowing that they looked at every possible situation, ensuring that they had the right people who are responsible for this.
