As president of this country President Obama must fight for civil rights for all Americans. Not one of us has a right to condemn one another for our choices; nor do we have a Heaven or Hell to subject anyone to. If you are not for same sex marriage then don't marry any one of the same sex. God said judge not lest you be judged. I for one will stay out of His business with His people. Our job is to love one another. I commend and support the President for standing for a man or woman's right to marry who they love regardless of the political fall out, It shows me a lot of courage on his part. Imagine if there were no courageous people to stand for my right to vote, sit in the front of a bus, eat in a restaurant or sleep in a hotel.

At the end of the day, everybody on earth know homosexuality is a sin, we just try to find ways and reasons to justify it and feel good about it, who dont try to make themselves feel better about their dirt? Also, homosexual marriage aint right, it never will be. Obama just trying to get votes that's why he coming out with it now, instead of doing anything about it further in his 4 year tenure as President. I do believe that everyone has the right to choose, noone can take away your choice for anything, but we must understand that all choices have consequences. You can choose to be gay and you can choose to suffer the consequences and it wont be anyone's faught but yours, but just like all other ill wills in our society, we need proper regulations and restraints, marriage is a restraint for homosexuals, you can be gay fine! But dont think you gonna participate in the holy, honorable, sanctity of marriage, nope! No!

People can accept homosexuality when it benefits them in some sort of way. Homosexuals support heterosexuals all the same. Why is man so caught up on a persons physical delima. In the bible it reads God judges the heart. So why do we keep trying pass judgement when we sometimes dont even know our own hearts. This human fasique means nothing after its gone. The spirit is neither male nor female. People put so much criticizm on same sex marriage. Yet many men love to see girl on girl action. Many people like to invite a extra person into the bedroom. Several men sneak around with other men everyday. Im just saying why frown on something that will never end whether you like it individualy or not. Its been going on for centuries before us and will on well after us. If people new exactly what they wanted then the world would be perfect. Last time I checked it is not. If Obama is trying to get votes let him. At the end of the day wether same sex marriage gets legalized or not. You wont be able to stop the love one feels for another. I don't agree about the marriage and raising children in that setting but, he is trying to do so many wonderful things for our people and all people who are middle class and poor. I believe people are going to do what they want to anyway. Look a the bigger picture. The Republicans are certainly not for you. God died for all of us and we have to believe he is in charge.

I have spent over 12 years exploring the phenomenon of religion and black folks and have come to the conclusion that, just as in thousands of years past, so it is today, people, and black folks especially, are fooled into believing in religious stories that have no basis in truth or reason for that matter. Not withstanding the massive deceit and untruths reflected in that collection of stories called the bible, black folk should at the very least have abandoned them a long time ago for better suited creation myths such as the Yoruba creation stories or the Dogons. At least the entire cast is black. Instead we, act like fools killing ourselves, neglecting ourselves in order to believe that the blond hair"savior" is the real deal.
Nobody has the "true revelation". We are all trying to discover ourselves for thousands of years. Remember, back then, humans were collectively so ignorant that many believed that the world was flat, Blacks were not quite human and that women were not the same humans as white men. And here we are today, further bastardizing those same stories to better suite us. We need to wake up. Oh, Obama did the right thing

no one has the right to deny anybody civil rights with that being said it is unfair to offer only a certain group of people rights and deny another. CHURCH AND STATE ARE SUPPOSED TO STAND ALONE NOT TOGETHER. I think the president is looking at other countries and how their socities have become better because they are treating everyone the same. The black church is making the same mistake like they did with president bush be wise and not stupid, the black community is suffering even more because of the black church chosen to support president bush because he was against same sex marriage.

It's just a sign of the times. Focus on being rapture ready. Pray for everyone, everywhere, including this country, because it's not in man's hands to free or deliver homosexuals from a perverted lifestyle, that's God's job. Our job is to pray without ceasing. We spend too much time, energy, thought and breath on the wrong things, that's why we are not seeing much change or results in America or this world. Leaders like Reverend Bryant are why our community lack commitment to the faith. We have got to find men of God with backbones. If it's this easy for this man to lay down his faith to support another man, you have to wonder what else he's been willing to compromise as he shares the word of God. There are true men of God. They are preaching in churches every day. They seldom rise in the world to positions like Rev. Jamal because the world has itching ears. Reverend Jamal's Jesus is one he can put in his pocket when he wants to do what feels good in his own eyes. The gospel is great message. If you repent, He is faithful to forgive. But, you must repent. What the president has just done is told a nation, repentance of this sin isn't necessary. Because, guess what? According to the President, it isn't a sin. Every man or woman who supports this President will be supporting the same message, because the gay community will now expect to see some action from him and rightfully so. He will have to support them in word and deed and not just take money conveniently. Don't listen to Jamal and Obama. Homosexuality is a sin. But, you can be forgiven. And, God can save you. Find real believers who won't compromise their religion, but who will tell you the truth in love. You are beautiful and made in his image. But, you were not made to live a life of sin. You were made to live a life of victory. Jamal can't tell you that right now. It would be the truth, but the truth is inconvenient. But, the gospel is right for us in all occasions. Even when there's a black man in the White House. What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and lose his soul? What does it profit us to find a savior and trade Him for a regular man in Washington just because he shares our complexion. Can our faith be bought so cheaply? Don't fall for the...yeah, but I support him for other reasons. We serve a magnificent God who promises that if we pursue His kingdom, He will add these other things to us. If we trust God, why do we fear republicans? We should fear no man. Let us fear the one who is all powerful. And, let us pray for our President and Jamal. Remember the very elect will be deceived. Now, we get to witness it.

I am a History major at UH-D. I focus on minority studies and the church and religion has long been used to justify slavery, interracial marriage, and discrimination against women (black and white!). In our country, separation of church and state was a major protection for minorities against the majority when it came to government and laws that might affect the minorities unfavorable. This issue is the same thing as the discrimination and religious justification for this discrimination. Gays are a minority and are being discriminated legally (based on religious views of marriage by most people) in marriage despite these clear examples of how it should be a clear cut issue. I pray to God, who loves us ALL, that the right thing is done. I also support our President in his conviction to uphold democracy, the law, and what is right by taking religion out of the legal equation and supporting what is right. And he is doing this when it might not be favorable for him, which makes me like him even more... thank you Mr. President for your support of human respect and equal treatment for ALL american citizens!

It just shows that the President doesnt care about how most of the "states" have voted to outlaw gay marriage. Since the states issue the liscences, how does he think they will get married. Besides this, he's ignoring the wishes of the voters in all the states that are against it....

Look ppl. This is not something that Mr. President just happen to do. Ever since day one in office he has pledged to defend homosexual unions. He told homosexuals during a gathering at the white house that he "wanted to be their champion." The only reason why he is now coming out publicly and saying something is because he think it's the best time as far as strategy. So all that stuff about him not being true to himself and him trying to win the gay vote....This guy doesn't really care about that...This is being true to himself because this is what he has always supported

Well you are gonna have bigots reinforce their racist views and perceptions to condemn the president even the more, but the one thing I disagree with him is the notion of same sex marrigage prescribing his beliefs to align with his decision as being a christian. For the bible says in James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. The President holds the highest office and many christians like myself voted for him however he can use his personal belief of what he feels is right but prescribing Christianity as the basis of the decision is a hypocrite. He never knew god and God doesn't know him either. Well the books of Matthew speaks of men being lovers of themselves and men giving into adultery and perverse things etc. America has departed from God and the return is nigh which is gonna be a glorious thing.
