wow heat arguments. I am gay. I did not chose to be gay. Gay people do not decide to be gay or act gay. What is the main difference bewteen a civil union and marriage? First there are gay churches that are open to all christians. We also have gay rabbi in Richmond. I pay taxes lots of taxes I am conservative republican christian. In the gay world i am log cabin republican. Marriage to me is not a piece of paper it is how i live my life with the person I love. Civil union is saying to my world your a second class citizen whom should not be getting married in a church. I should have the same rights as you do in terms of health care, life insurance, social sercurity benefits, child adoption, and medical rights. We are human beings no different so why treat us differently?

These kinds of polls are about as valuable as a guard dog on a short leash; their value is lost because the good they could do is purposely neglected.

The whole idea is to promote the notion that everyone is just happy as a clam with homosexual marriage and Obama's stance on the subject. From there, we all walk away feeling content that we have the big picture. But if you were to look into the mechanics of these things, you would find a political, rather than humanitarian purpose. You would also find numerous gears in the mechanism that assure a designer outcome.

Does this mean the nation does NOT agree with Obama and gay marriage? Not in the least... but it does make clear that this subject is being force fed to the nation for the sake of politics and that what you and I may genuinely believe means less than what we 'think' we believe.

The United States has a very large plate full of horribly pressings problems and gay marriage doesn't stand toenail high to any of them. If we elect a president based on this topic alone, we deserve what we get when that plate spills over into our laps.

Let's get up to speed with terminology.....Marriage equality, not "gay marriage." And if there was an "absolutely" vote choice, that's the one I would have chosen!

I was going to vote for Obama until he said this. I'm a christian and it clearly states in the bible that God created a man and a woman to multiply. He created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!!!

Sye, you already have to get a license to get married. A justice of the peace can marry people; no where is it required for a representative of any religion to perform the ceremony. Religion has left marriage a long time ago. People can CHOOSE to include religion as a part of their marriage, but again, it's not required. And as you stated there is a separation of church and state so if a religious institution has an issue with it... well... tough cookies. They will always have the option of refusing to perform the service, but that's about it. The issue really is if it is legal for gays to marry in the US. Will the union be recognized by the state. So far the best argument I've heard against "Gay marriage" boils down to, "It makes me uncomfortable."

Yeah... no where in the constitution OR Bible/Quran/Torah/ect. does it say that we have a right to be completely comfortable with everything everywhere at all times forever and ever and ever. It's not like if gay people get married, straight people can't get married anymore. Ease up.

Sye - NOBODY ever said you had to accept same-sex marriage as a religious union. Let's see you try to walk into a church & get married - then expect the state to just accept your word on it & change your name, file taxes as a wedded couple, and add your spouse to your inurance plan! WON'T HAPPEN - why? Because marriage is a contract between two consenting adults with the state! Period! If you want to have that "religious" ceremony - go right ahead, but it won't make you married in the eyes of ANY state unless you walk in there and get a marriage license. Are you trying to say that all those couples (regardless of their gender) who were not married in a church someplace aren't legally married?
Your argument doesn't hold water & just shows how ignorant you are.

What exactly is his stance on gay "Marriage"? Marriage is a religious union between a MAN and a WOMAN...if Gays want equal rights under TAX CODES and INHERITANCE LAWs...then maybe we need to be discussion CIVIL UNIONS! and keep the word MARRIAGE out of it...unless things have changed in religion, but as far as I know most every major religion is against calling homosexual unions MARRIAGES....so if GOVT is supposed to be separated from Religion how do they get the right to dictate that we MUST accept HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE as a RELIGIOUS UNION....Better yet keep it in the closet and lets talk about REAL ISSUES LIKE JOBS, DEBT, and the PISS Poor job our President is doing!

Interesting that this poll doesn't work in Firefox!
