How climate controlled is your shop?

I live in West Virginia and have a through-the-wall heat pump, like they have in motel rooms. It works very well.

HVAC for the backyard shop space is on the project list. Live in GA so it's humid.

NW Wisconsin garage shop heated fall through spring with LP forced air (there has never been a car in the garage). I try to keep the temperature at 50 degrees (F) and boost it up to 64 when I'm in the shop. A dehumidifier is run all summer to try and keep a constant humidity level.

This August when I get my incentive check heat will be going in, just can stand cold wood working, tablesaw feels like a frozen block of ice and then I try not to over dress for safety purposes.

My little shop is in the basement, here in NY's Southern Tier. So household heat in the winter, and with insulation the basement is relatively cool in summer... but a de-humidifier is an absolute necessity.

Would love to have a climate controlled shop (live in the Mid-South), but not presently possible. Have thought about temporary measures like a window unit, but have wondered about humidity extremes affect on the wood. If I only use the AC when working will that cause the wood to shrink and swell as the AC is turned on working and then off for extended periods when no in the shop?

Michigan Garage Shop ( north side).

Shared with my youngest daughter (grown) and her lathe.

Portable sealed oil based heater (safe as you can get, fire-wisely speaking) for Winter use. We also get buddy heat from the house.

Upstate NY - winters generally cold - and shop insulated and propane heater - average temp in teh shop 45 cold but workable - lots of planing and sawing to keep a sweat up... Summer - 75-85 can be very humid - so fan in window - seems to work.

I live in northern canada so a/c is only useful for like 1 week a year in the summer it usually does not get hotter than 24 C (75 F) we do find that quite warm. I went to vegas in december and the tempature was perfect but the pool at our hotel was closed! But i try to keep the shop at about +18 C (64 F).

I have a window a/c unit for when it gets really hot, and on the rare occasion when it gets truly cold, I have been known to turn on my halogen flood lights inside. That warms up my little shop quickly.

Wow, 87 degrees at night, in a month or two I won't see that at any time. I live in Las Vegas and luckily my garage/shop faces north. To do glue ups I generally take stuff into the house if possible. Usually I give it up when the temps peak at 105 or so, afraid the sweat will rust my tools and make the wood swell up! No a/c but I do have a propane heater for winter time freezing temps.
