Stop living in the 2001 era and below... we're in 2012 going up. Think of it in a perspective that YOU ARE THE ONE putting in the 5 million dollars, and you want to make a profit, and not LOSE the money you gave. Those artists may have hit luck in those eras where it actually worked... but today is different. welcome to hollywood and life veronica. voice is voice, but when it comes to real life, and selling albums, you want it to be at its maximum value before its going out into market. I'll give you a big example... look at that idiot Justin Bieber who don't know how to sing, but sells more album than ANY ARTISTS OUT THERE. He has a solid fan base, but also an anti fan base. however, he generates more income than most of the artists you listed above. how do you think that is possible? those artists you listed may have awards and talent, but when you're talking money, people putting in the investment don't care. They want a GUARENTEED success, or they don't put in their investment at all... Lets put it in a term you may understand.
Candy may taste good, but if the Wrapper is crap, some people don't want it, or they think the candy company is cheap as fuck.
You may like a Kit Kat bar, but if you compare them to Ferrero Rocher and the price is the same, I think you'd rather take the Ferrero Rocher.

Melanie didn't win because of her body. Whats wrong with being double digit dress size? I love that she doesn't have the "Hollywood body" aka starvation look. I don't want my child to think in order for her to be successful she needs to lose weight. I can name 10 successful men and woman who look great and didn't give in and have amazing careers.
