Why *exactly* did the Frozen Donkey Wheel fall off its axis when Ben turned it?
Just a coincidental screwup: Ben simply didn't do it right!
Ben deliberately sabotaged it so that someone (preferrably John) later would be exiled with him.
Because They Left: The Oceanic 6's departure upset the natural balance.
Consequence of Ben being the one to move the island, instead of John, as Christian instructed
MIB made it so, to trigger the time jumps to facilitate his master plan.
Extreme course correction by "The Universe" to resolve paradoxes (Incident, Richard's compass, etc.)
