I was a participant of the Friendly Town movement and as a child from a extremely poor family I enjoyed the experience of going to a white family who care for me for two weeks. I got to experience things I would've never known about such as farm life, the church experience, and eating healthy good foods. It was an experience I will never forget and one that changed my life and how I viewed it. I am greatful for the Friendly Town program and I belive it helped my mother and stepfather out immensely because it gave them time away from their children to focus on the strenuous life they faced daily as adults in racially injustice times. Thank God for Friendly Town, braking racial barriers and bonding ethnicity groups one family at a time.
