What Should Never Be Done to Pizza?

Using utensils implies either: pizza fail (crust is too soggy to hold), or just expending needless effort. Hand eating is one of the essential characteristics of the dish.

The other thing I can't stand being done to a pizza: calling it a "pie". Ugh, I cringe whenever I hear that. The usage always has this cutesy smirk to it. And a PIE is a completely different kind of food, why would you ever think of pizza and pie together? And no, "pizza" does not, and never did, mean "pie" in Italian.

I think this list forgets to mention the ultimate Pizza sin: Eating with a knife and fork!

On a lot of cheap pies, like you'd get at a party, the crust just isn't worth eating alone :( The microwave, on the other hand, kills any pie, from cheap to quality.

Asking for "a slice of cheese" shows you are not from NYC. And using a knife and fork.

Cardinal Sin: There can be no sin greater than the microwave re-heat. Pizza is ALL about the crust, and crust is almost ALL about texture. There is a place in this world for microwaves, but never for pizza.

Classic Error: Toppings overload. When you order the "everything" pizza, you create a big wet sloppy salad on your pie. The moisture seeps down and destroys the crust. But that probably isn't such a bad thing, because any place that will sell you such a pie is probably slinging Sysco crust anyhow.

Crying Shame: Leaving the bones. Jeepers, you want mommy to cut the crusts off your PBJ, too? For God's Sake, eat like a grownup! Cherish the cornicione.

Disclaimer: Pizza = passion. We have opinions. We all have strongly felt feelings or we wouldn't bother to blog, to comment, and to read the comments of others. "Having said that," all of my opinions are the right ones, OK?
