I dont have a problem with updates if they make things work better.
The latest update for the Touch has caused problems.
We can't purchase book via the links from your blog or other blogs which are received on the Kindle touch.
And the CS people have no idea this is happening or not admitting to it. I spent over 2 hours with customer service the other night. I was referred to three different divisions. Not one could help me nor did they admit it was a softwear problem on the Kindle T.
These types of upgrades are the most annoying since we the owners know it is happening and to other owners also but there is nothing they can or will do to fix it
BTW it happens on your blog also Bufo. I tried to link to purchase a book recommended on "I love my kindle" and got the same response as on other blogs I read on my Touch. it is annoying since i really like going directly to the purchase site to get more info about the books and maybe purchase them.
Hopefully Amazon will finally realize the problem and fix it the next auto upgrade.

Yes, but not just for CS reasons: like to keep device current. As to bug fixes and new features. If an update causes a problem, can always call CS which is excellent

I answered "case by case", as that's the closest to how I think Amazon should handle it. Automatic updates can be a good thing, and I believe that Kindles should have an option to have automatic, no user-intervention required, updates.

However, I believe the default should be the Kindle asking if you want to update. When a Kindle update is available, a message box should pop up notifying the user, with an option to apply the update now (with an option to automatically apply future updates), remind you to update later, and don't remind you about this or any future updates.

While chances are I'm going to want any given Kindle update, I'd prefer to apply the update at a time of my choosing, when I know I'm not going to be using it, like when I recharge it at night.
