Would you ever sit in a "quiet section" at an MLB game?

Dodger Stadium when I was a kid was a great place to watch a baseball game. There was nothing but the PA announcer, and the organ player. I prefer that to all the piped music these days. I can hear pop and rock music everywhere else I go. Why would I also need to hear it at the stadium? I think baseball owners think they need to draw people to their stadiums with flashy entertainment, but I don't think that's why people go to the games. They go for the warm summer evenings sitting outside with their family and friends, eating hotdogs and peanuts and beer, and being able to cheer as loud as they want without someone getting upset. A little cheerleading is okay, but the sensory overload they have now is just too much.

In 2009 the Tigers visited the Pirates and did a 100 year anniversary of their world series moment and basically did this for the whole park. No announcer, no music and had the scoreboard show just the basic score per inning and the totals (runs, hits, errors).
It flopped and they said they would never do it again. Oh how I wish I was there....

I think the impulse to cheer would take over before I realized I was in a "quiet section" and couldn't. Reminds me of attending a friends son's little game. Got there, started cheering for his team. Then mom walks over and says that you're not allowed to cheer, good or bad. Stayed for the rest of the game but was pretty boring. Another thought. I don't understand the need for autistic children to have a quiet section. My brother, who is autistic, would get just as excited and cheer just as loudly as the rest of the crowd. The ones I know couldn't stand having that restriction put on them.

I took my son to a game when he was about 2 years old. The music for the home team batters was so loud, even with many people in the section, that he cried every time. He could sit with me only for the visitors at bat. We ended up leaving before the 4th inning. too much fake nonsense, too loud.

All you need to do is take in a game at Fenway and you will quickly realize how much noise other ballparks pipe in. It is the best place in the world to watch the game and talk with friends and other fans.
