Even though it will be repaid through tolls, should Canada be paying for the U.S. share of construction costs of a new bridge?

I don't think it's right that our government does major cut backs but yet wants to spend 1 billion with tax payers money and still charge them to use the bridge. There are so many Canadian's that will never come close to seeing the bridge let alone using it, but we still have to see our government wasting money we work hard to earn. Shakes head at our government!!!!

I agree with the writer whole heartedly. Having the traffic flow directly to and from the expressways is the greatest use that the planners could have come up with. I am glad that the |Province got the ball rolling and kept the City of Windsor mostly out of the equation or the discussion would have taken 25 more years like the E C Row Expressway did. The Delray economy can use the boost as well.

Yes, because Canada needs that Bridge and for once we are taking control of our border crossing. In the long term it will pay for itself. CBC should correct the phrasing (No tolls will be charged in Michigan). It should read (No tolls will be collected on the US border, they will all be collected on the Canadian border) It's miss leading the people to think that the Americans won't pay to cross because of the word CHARGED. Presently both tolls are COLLECTED in the USA and kept by the private owner. The word Charged is miss leading.

This project could never come to light with Michigan paying as there economy is in difficult situation. The Sarnia Bridge was built by the Michigan and we didn't complain when they collected all the tolls.

Now we have control of our highways and speeding up border crossing. Maybe this will revive the economy of Windsor and Detroit.

Born in Windsor and commuted to the USA for 4 years. I know what border crossing means.
