I'm with Ryan, we do ours at the end of the school year to help the ease of transition. We use the summer as a transition period anyway, where most of our programs aren't typically "normal." Plus, most of the students are already talking as if they were promoted anyway.
We do ours at the end of the school year so that it gives the incoming middle schoolers and high schoolers a chance to engage with upper classmen before school starts. They will have enough crazy transitions at the start of the school year that we want to make it less stressful for them.
