Do you have a problem with LaDainian Tomlinson saying he'd rather be in Hall of Fame without a Super Bowl win than not in Hall of Fame with Super Bowl win?

How is wanting a Super Bowl ring any less "selfish"?

The question wasn't "...or a Super Bowl right for your teammates..."

Look at it this way. There are lots of guys who were 7th round picks or free agent walk ons that never played a down all year long and have super bowl rings because they were on the active roster at some point during the season. I would never, ever consider them and their ring, that someone else clearly earned for them, over the accomplishments that LT earned.

Faulting someone for being happier to be considered great over the span of an entire career than for having been great for a single season is pretty silly. How many people out there "won" a Superbowl but have nothing to show for their career except that? The guy has been a terrific ambassador, role model, and all-around-decent human being. Oh, right, he also played football occasionally.

Calling out one of the most humble, unselfish, hardest working superstar player of recent times? There are plenty of other players you can focus on. The Chargers were really great before they got Tomlinson as well....LdT carried the Chargers his first few years in the league. In addition, he was a great teammate always giving his teammates credit and buying his whole offensive line rolex watches after his MVP season. Yeah he sounds like a terribly selfish me first player.

These are not mutually exclusive goals. Only great players make the hall. How does being great negatively affect your chances at a SB?

Selfish my foot. Crappy players get rings all the time and the Hall of Fame represents an excellent body of work. I think he was just saying that he would rather be a consistent good player over lucky, as are many "World Champions"

    +1 Dude

Playing sports in general, from middle school,to high school to college ball, is all
about one team goal! Being the best as a Team as you can be!
For as much as I respect LT as a player, I want the player who put's WE in front of ME!!
    Just one persons view.....

I don't have a problem with it, and here's why: his performance is the only thing he can control. He has no control over the QB throwing picks, or the defense letting the opponent run up and down the field on them. All you can do is your best, and hope the rest of the team is good enough to get you there.

I actually think it is more selfish for people that oversee web sites that are most useful for looking at hot chicks to force feed products (e.g., Twitter), services (e.g., gambling sites) and overrated/over-publicized celeb wannabes (e.g., Kardashians) when said person most likely has a financial bias to do so, because, let's face it, nobody is better off with any of it.
