independence day isn't about the present, it's about our history. so many people in this country are trying to re-write our history; and so many people in this country don't know our history.soon it will be a country without a history and no patriots

You do remember the fireworks causing a small fire last year? ...enough of one that they had to stop setting them off to put the fire out. It would be just plain irresponsible to have them this year.

It will still be the 4th of July without fireworks. In fact, celebrating with fireworks is a fairly new tradition. Accidentally setting off another fire with an errant spark is just not worth the few minutes of enjoyment we get from the display.

What makes those people any more "deserving" of your solidarity than someone who loses a home to a "standard" house fire? We don't shut down holidays for them???

I say the best way to "support" our neighbors is to celebrate our community by inviting them down for a safe, sane, friendly, and happy 4th of July, not to wallow in pity and feigned commiseration.

Cancel them until next year. Put the money away and save until next year.

The "postpone" option effectively skews the data because no city or town is going to physically do that, and they never have. It's just putting the "Enjoy them" option in a bad light. It's a nice option, but nobody is actually going to consider it. The only thing they're going to look at is the difference between yes and no. It shouldn't have even been a part of the poll, it's a simple yes/no question and skews what is basically a 60/40 vote, and this poll was pretty hard to find. 600 people is no where near accurate for a city such as Longmont, a city with a population of ~100,000 people. You're only getting 0.65% of the population with this poll, and a typical poll has almost twice this amount- at least.

I don't think urban Colorado should have to suffer because a bunch of people decided to build houses in the middle of the forest without cleaning up their property. All of that dead brush and tree parts caught fire and spread. Let nature do what it does best, rid itself of the junk (infectious beetles, irresponsibly kept property, dead plants, etc.). From the ashes, new trees will grow, and people will be smarter about where and with what they build their houses. Hopefully, people bought fire insurance. The cities should profit off of those who are going to light up anyway, or else that money is going to Wyoming.

Even if it's safe in the city you're in--I think it's a show of solidarity for our fellow Coloradans who have lost their homes and for the firefighters who continue to battle on.
