Poll: Which Eliminated Finalist Would You Bring Back?

  • Steph - 12 years ago

Emily was truly unique and a breath of fresh air. Food Network is crazy to let talent like hers slip away. Bring her back. I am still in shock that Food Network continues to float someone like Martie and let go a gem like Emily.

  • Rick - 12 years ago

I thought that Emily made cooking really fun. I remain very surprised how negative the comments were about her in the exit interview. I don't understand their view that she wasn't ready for the camera, because to me as a viewer she was very bright and energetic and camera-worthy. I know that she had a rough time on the bus, but her positive qualities and potential overshadowed that. I definitely would have watched a show from her. May actors say that Marilyn Monroe took countless takes to get something right, but when she did the results were excellent. Yet, Emily never resorted to sex appeal, short skirts and cleavage revealing tops to hold an audience like some of here competitors. A-hem!! So, Emily's perceived unreadiness for the camera is really an admission on the part of Food Network's management that they are lazy! Currently, the only other food network star that I watch regularly is Sandwich King. Justin: I'm a serious person and I don't have time to watch kooky stuff about fish bones and gelatinized salad dressing and such. Marty: they already have Semi Home Made so they don't need her. New England Cooking: no thank you; won't hold my interest. Family style: ho hum. I won't watch any of them! Food Network: you don't have a star this year. I might have also watched Eric Lee for the make food from scratch POV but he was perceived as too laid back. Is he laid back compared to Barefoot Countessa? And he quit his job for that. In short, give cooking shows to Emily and Eric if you want me to watch.

Emily Ellyn is the real deal. She is smart, talented, and is an excellent chef. She is the retro rad personality that we saw on the show. Emily has worked very hard to get where she is today and will only work harder to get her show and concept out to the public. Emily is very gracious to all and is absolutely genuine. Her food is killer and she can rock a heel better than anyone i know! You have made all of us very proud and i know you are going to be a success! We love you Em!

  • k - 12 years ago

    Emily Ellyn

  • carl - 12 years ago

The network missed a huge opportunity w Kara Sigle. America barely had a chance to see her wonderful talent and healthy point of view. She is the total package because she lives healthy eatinand exercise. I loved her twist on classic dishes. Brought me back to basics. America deserves a chef like her.

  • Dominique - 12 years ago

Emily Ellyn is the best candidate. After she was kicked off, I stopped watching the show and I was a HUGE supporter. My friends and I would all get together and root for her. Now that she is off the show, I find no interest in the other candidates. Bringing Emily Ellyn back would be a great move for "The Network". If Food Network chooses not to do so, another network will scoop her up and Food Network will be very sorry. Retro Rad!!!

  • Molly - 12 years ago

Emily Ellyn should be the Next Food Network Star and since she isn't, another network will gladly swoop in and scoop her up! She is the real package of character, looks, talent and fun. Everyone I know says they think Emily Ellyn was the one to beat. Now that she is off no one watches the show. I feel very confident that Emily will have her Retro Rad show one day soon and all of us will be watching what she cooks, cans, or crochets up!!

I want her to know that we all support her, vote for her, visit her website (emilyellyn.com), friend her on Facebook (she personally write back to you and wishes you a Happy Birthday), follow her on Twitter (@Emily_Ellyn) and Pin her on Pinterest! Emily Ellyn was made for this life of sharing and connecting with all of us!

  • maria - 12 years ago

i would love to have emily and justin do a show together, restro/rad woud be the name of the show, give them the same menu and emily can create restro and justin can create rad.
also combine ippy and yvon same consept! i would watch both of these show!

  • David - 12 years ago

I was just in shock when Emily was eliminated. I think Food Network really dropped the ball on this one. I basically stopped watching after that. Sadly, the show isn't really about finding the next star it's just about who can survive all these silly made-for-reality-tv contests they make up.

  • Alex - 12 years ago

I can't believe they eliminated both Linkie and Emily for Nikki! I'm so glad they kicker her off today!

  • kiki - 12 years ago

Take an honest look at all of the contestants. Its clear Kara was the real deal. Take a look at her initial tape Ro get selected. I love her authentic comments and take on healthy living. Bring Kara Sigle back!

  • Regan - 12 years ago

I think that Marti should leave and Emily should come back!

  • Guest - 12 years ago

Why would anyone vote for Kara Sigle. I think she is using a bot to boost here count. No one has posted anything on the bring back blog asking for her.

  • Kevin - 12 years ago

Repeating the words "retro" and "rad" over and over again doesn't make you a chef; it makes you a buffoon.

  • kris - 12 years ago

Come on...smell the coffee they missed the boat withKara. Bring her back. She has total charisma
The spot onChicago Me TV proved that. Bring Kara back!

  • katarina - 12 years ago

    FN Please bring Emily back!!!!!

  • kiki - 12 years ago

If you want American to understand real family values and the importance of family tradition bring back Kara Sigle. She's the real thing -Jump on this Food Network!

  • Val - 12 years ago

I've been voting for Linkie & her vote count is not changing...Whats up with that?

  • Anonymous - 12 years ago

Bring Emily back!!!! She could've taught people to have a nice home cooked family dinner. Not to many people have home cooked family dinners and she just wanted to bring back the family style dinner of the 50's. Nobody needs to know her past childhood, it's food network, not Oprah. I would watch her show, BRING EMILY BACK!!!

  • Jazzy J - 12 years ago

JUDSON!!!! JUDSON!!!! JUDSON!!!! BRING HIM BACK. HE IS TRULY AMAZING.

  • Susan Hickey - 12 years ago

I voted to bring Emily back; if there was a poll as to who would go, it would be Marti.. every week to has to be coached, guided and told what to do.... I would love to see Malcolm back instead of Marti still on the show..... sorry Marti, but Emily should be there,

  • Alexandra - 12 years ago

Since the first episode my two favorites have been Justin and Emily. When Emily was eliminated I was completely shocked. There are still people left who have been on the bottom multiple times and haven't shown any progress yet someone like Emily who is so unique and interesting got eliminated. I would love to see Emily back on The Food Network and I would definitely watch her show.

  • kchuk7 - 12 years ago

Hey, FN... I thought that this year the final "say" was going to be left to the viewers. You know what, though? I don't want to choose from the three the network prefers; I want to choose from ALL of them. That said, my choice would be Emily -- with a unique point of view and great cooking skills to boot. And about laid-back Ippy: Not all of us are bubbly, energetic and over the top. That mellow, easygoing young man happens to appeal to me very much..

  • Dionne Breton - 12 years ago

Emily was very unique. She had such a warm bubbly personality and was very creative. I would definitely watch a show with her in it!

  • johndoe - 12 years ago

Emily and Linkie. The only two that were unique in every way, with culinary talents that were far superior. [Well, maybe not superior to Justin]. Emily: AMAZING girl, Who else on food network has a retro-rad cooking show? And learning how to cook south African food..........That would be completely and utterly AMAZING!

  • laura - 12 years ago

Emily was amazing. Everyone loves the retro rad idea. There are dinners that have that vibe with peanut butter burger's and its an awesome era. Why do you have to hate ! She has an outstanding personality and a good person!

  • Sandy B. - 12 years ago

I want to see more of Linkie ... she was entertaining, talented and seemed to have so much fun in the kitchen. She was also so much nicer than some of the people still on the show - sharing her flour, etc. I think a show that helped make beautiful food easier for me to make for my own entertaining would be one that interests me and lots of people! Bring her back.

  • Linny - 12 years ago

Disappointed that Emily was eliminated. I thnk her show would have been a HIT........

  • Tricia Conner - 12 years ago

Emily should be brought back, soon! She had a great POV. She was able to salvage her time for the Halloween party when Marti went over her time. I would love to learn to use a pressure cooker. My mom and gram both used one, but I never learned how. Emily is fun, quirky, and has great ideas.

Nicki has been in the pitch room one time too many. I agree that three strikes and you are out.

  • Stephanie - 12 years ago

Emily was my favorite on the show. Her loving personality and her great cooking really inspired me. I was shocked that she was sent home! I loved her style and her creative ideas with food. I stopped watching the show because Emily no longer is on it. I wish the judges would have reevaluated their decision because sending Emily home was a big loss for them! I see Emily doing great things in her future regardless, she will go far because of her intelligence and her culinary talent.

  • Sarah - 12 years ago

I think emily was dreadful, while she has a lot of support from the fns fans, i dont believe she would have stood up well with a real audience. she was fake and her 50's theme was boring and over done.

  • Jason Canonaco - 12 years ago

Emily was the most unique talent on the show. You have to bring her back!

  • Andreona Garlid - 12 years ago

Emily Ellyn was the reason I watched the show - I would have watched her show because - we are 2 of a kind! I don't think I'll keep watching the show without her. It also makes me lose my faith in the food network in general when they let Martita and Michelle and Malcolm stay on that week and sent home their brightest star.

  • Kris - 12 years ago

Emily seemed like such a relatable and genuine person. I agree with others, I don't watch because I need to know about their family, I watch for the food. I would have watched Emily's show regularly. She seemed to take food that we would normally cook at home or grew up with and reinvented it in ways that would make it better and more interesting. My mother, too, had said she would watch her show. Her food seemed so relatable to most of middle america. I think the network made a mistake by getting rid of Emily.

  • jrr - 12 years ago

If it goes according to script, it should be either Yvan, Ippy, or Martita leaving next, so each mentor will have two people left. So sad how predictable this has been. :( Oh, and bring back Chef Judson. America needs to eat healthier, and his innovative ideas for how to keep the flavor in food and keep it healthy are inspiring. I would definitely watch his show. As for the Rebel with a Culinary Cause, I can't see myself watching his show at all.

  • Platnm3kt - 12 years ago

Personally, I don't believe this poll will make a difference! Will this give the eliminated contestants another chance at a show?

Someone mentioned earlier about how the network didn't help these contestants to develop a POV...I agree! What's a mentor for?

I stopped watching FNS because it seems sooo scripted! And now I'm convinced that it is!

REALLY?! How do you keep a contestant who served a crab salad w/ shells in it to an "exclusive" audience and their kids?! ...AND the network had to remove it to prevent them from getting sick... WTH?! GREAT I no longer have to watch another reality competition...

SCRIPTED...And the winner of the Next Food Network Star goes to Team Alton's "Rebel W/ A Cause"....So Obvious!

  • Gene from Indy - 12 years ago

So disappointed Emily went home. Wife and I thought she would win - would have watched her show faithfully!

  • Kris - 12 years ago

Bring Kara BACK! America needs this down to earth healthy chef in their homes! She's definitely got screen appeal and no doubt has a personality waiting to bloom for viewers of every age group. Love her spin on food experiences that build strong family bonds.

  • Susan - 12 years ago

Emily should definitely come back. Her food was great, her POV was interesting. She's a truly fun person. Why do I care what angst in her life brought her to this point? The point is she's here! Thank God for that! Emily, come home!

  • Aaron - 12 years ago

I think the biggest issue is that Boband Susie have already written the script for the show.

"Today we're making (insert dish name). You know, when I was growing up (insert personal story about how meaningful the dish is for you to fill time). So this dish is really special to me."

If you think about the shows that have cult followings, exactly 0 of them have this formula. "Good Eats", "D, D, and D", "Restaurant Impossible" (although moreso it's predecessor "Dinner Impossible"). I want to see food in a new way, not see someone recite a recipe and then watch them cook it. I can do that with 3 minutes on allrecipes and have the food to eat too

  • Evelyn - 12 years ago

Are you going to act on this? I hope so, because this got our hopes back up, and that is a terribly unpleasant thing if nothing is to be done. I'm not alone in this sentiment, I'm sure.

Emily Ellyn is way over 1000 votes ahead. She should be retrieved immediately.

  • Laurie Brewer - 12 years ago

I want to know how the h*ll Martita stayed on when she sat there for 30 seconds with dead air. I'm very disappointed in this show and the decisions bob and Susie have made. Just Horrible

  • Laurie brewer - 12 years ago

Biggest mistake ever on the Part of food network was eliminating Malcolm. He nailed the producers challenge and had excellent food every time. The food network should work with people to help them develop their POV as they are the television experts. I wonder when they will start doing their job!

  • Nettie - 12 years ago

Emily is going to get her own show regardless. Do you see how famous she has become just by the comments. She can write a book, get her own youtube and one of these food networks will snatch her up. The Food network has become rather boring lately. It's time for new faces and Emily would be perfect for the show.

  • luke - 12 years ago

Its straight criminal the way u guys eliminated Chef Mitchell 1st u give him a challenge that had nothing to do with cooking and still comes up with a drink that combines his creativity with his cooking skills! Then u tell him he's one of the best cooks left! Terrible mistake by letting him go! Criminal I say!

  • Jeri Noce - 12 years ago

I hope FN does something to eliminate the teams. Mentoring is good. I also hope FN has been reading the responses of the fans. So far Emily is the overwhelming favorite. The viewers are speaking to you, FN, are you listening? Previous fan favorite polls are not effective. The favorites get eliminated! What good is a fan vote if nobody listens?? Please listen to your viewers. They are telling you what they want to see.

  • Broc Benner - 12 years ago

Emily Ellyn is exceptional...with her educational cooking background at the New York Culinary Inst. And then moving to Paris to study food in another POV. And now shes in Orlando Florida stuying more about food. Her camera personality might not be a shinning show for the food network but give the woman some slack. She can work magic with food. Further than any other contestant. U R INSANE FOOD NETWORK FOR VOTING HER OFF. HAVENT WATCHED THE SHOW SINCE SHE GOT VOTED OFF.

  • b - 12 years ago

    JUDSON! JUDSON! JUDSON!!!

Anerica NEEDS the 'Architect of Flavor'. I have no idea how to make healthy food that doesn't taste like cardboard. Judson's food looks (and sounds) amazing. And I love his story.

There's a huge market for what Judson is selling. No disrespect, but I think ppl like the idea of what Emily brings, not sure how many people would actually watch that show - I don't know any. And she kind of reminds me of a lesser Nadia G. It's been done.

Judson is fresh, and timely. And should definitely return.

  • Audra Hedger - 12 years ago

EMILY ELLYN! She did what I've never seen anyone else do on the Food Network: consistently showcase a time that people are still very nostalgic for... and rightfully so! I just got happy everytime I saw her in a pretty dress with those fabulous glasses. Everyone LOVED her food, every single time... that should always be enough to stay in a cooking competition. I don't tune in to find out family secrets. She's the real deal, and that's good enough for me! BRING EMILY BACK.........FTW!

  • Bryan - 12 years ago

Cutting Emily was a huge mistake. Being entertaining, instructional, and relevant to food people would actually cook on a regular basis is what is important to making a show people are going to watch more than once. She had all that, and no one else this season does. If the objective is to produce a profitable show, this cut was a huge fumble. If the objective is to create another boring and pandering show-by-committee, keep right on going.

  • Demetrius - 12 years ago

Bring back Judson Allen, not only is he a great cook but he knows how to become one with the camera and so far I haven't seen anyone who can work the camera consistently. One episode they are good next episode they look lost. BRING BACK JUDSON, BRING BACK JUDSON.

  • Gary - 12 years ago

Bring Emily back! She had such a unique POV. I'm surprised you let her go at all!! Judson's POV is not unique. I applaud his weight loss but there is already a plethera of information out there about losing weight. Even of FN. Emily's POV is very unique and I would watch her show.

  • Christa - 12 years ago

Cutting Emily was SO out of left field! Martita had 30 seconds left over and she did NOTHING ABOUT IT. Marti is a doll but she'd already been in the producer's challenge and has shown timing issues from the start. Emily seemed to have trouble with the "sharing about your past" concept. Maybe she had a rough time growing up and it's completely unfair that she was punished for that! I'm not even into retro stuff and I would've watcher her show because she has such great energy and ideas. Shame on you Bob & Susie for letting Emily go! What a weird decision.

  • Melanie - 12 years ago

Biggest mistake ever! I should be tuning in Sunday night to watch but Emily is gone so I can not be bothered!

  • Phillip - 12 years ago

Emily was true talent! Stopped watching after she was eliminated. I guess this is what happens when the Next Food Network Star became just another game show. Its sad how predictable it has become, anyone with half a brain can figure out your eliminating team members evenly instead of who really deserves to leave. LAME!

  • Kristin - 12 years ago

You guys were so crazy to vote Emily off this season!! It was obvious from day one that she has star power. Her idea for a show is very interesting and is much more marketable for the network than some of the others. She seems to be one of the more talented chefs and has such a fun, engaging personality. I would watch her show, for sure. I vote that you bring her back and give her another shot! :)

  • Brian - 12 years ago

Cutting Emily Elen from the show was a huge mistake...she has been the most consistent contestant on the show and her POV is the most unique and marketable! She was taken off the show way too early and in my opinion has the skills and talent to be the next FNS. I myself would live to take a 30 minute vacation from the world and go back in time when life seemed simpler and cook a home cook meal that brings the family table back into the daily picture of life. Bring Emily back!!!

  • Michelle - 12 years ago

I agree it was not at all a good choice to eliminate Emily. She had such a great personality and unique, engaging POV! It was just a bad week, of course she would feel "awkward" with everyone pushing her to spill all her family secrets to a bunch of strangers. I don't watch FN for drama and soap operas, why does she need to bare her past to the nation on a cooking show? Emily made FNS fun to watch just by being her playful, quirky self who loves life and cooking!

  • M.Joan - 12 years ago

I agree wholeheartedly that eliminating the lovely and talented Emily was a BIG mis-step for NFNS. Surely a show showcasing Emily's vivacious and honest personality, her superb cooking 'chops' is a sure thing. Her ideas of using garden fresh and wholesome food ingredients, as well as the throw-back to home-canning(which in this day and age is way, way timely!) should be on a tv show. How many contestants have such a genuinely engaging sense of humor and vitality?Really???

  • Jason - 12 years ago

Bring back Emily! I would watch her show!!!! She should win and she should host her show here in Orlando! It would be an amazing activity for families visiting Orlando to see, not to mention the amount that could be generated if you sold tickets and made it an attraction! Bring back Emily and maybe I will watch again...

    Thanks,

  • Becky - 12 years ago

I don't think you've taken full advantage of the changes you've made to the show this year. I would like to see more time with the mentors and more time presenting to the camera. I remember last year you started them right out of the gate with Alton shooting a promo for their shows. Now, the losers get the most camera practice.

I think this show has basically turned into the Bob, Susie and Giada show. You tell the contestants to tell a story, but you've almost taken them out of the equation. I suppose you are going to make this all right again by gifting your audience with one behind the scenes look during the finale.

I think Emily's chop was your greatest mistake, and I would watch anything Emily had to give us. I hope another channel picks her up.

In ending, I don't know if I will tune in next year. At least before you got to see the contestants cooking, dropping stuff , not getting things plated and putting their arms up in pride. If the audience doesn't know the contestants, it's YOUR fault, Network, not theirs.

And REALLY? 30 seconds of dead air time keeps you ON?

  • IDMITSIR - 12 years ago

Guaranteed never to watch this network again... What a joke!

  • Suzanne - 12 years ago

Love watching FNS, but REALLY don't agree with some of the eliminations this year! I agree that the decision seems to be "predetermined" even before the Challenge @ the end! And why do the contestants need to air all of the background ?!? especially when they are doing a great job of cooking and presenting?!? Hmmmm...was wondering last year if the producers were ever going to pay attention to the voting of the fans on the website. It will be very interesting to see what happens in a couple of weeks...since I was never convinced that this series was filmed in " real time ".

  • Shawndale - 12 years ago

The producer's challenge dosen't make any sense. The performance of the contestants doesn't seem to hold as much wieght as their previous actions. What is the point of the challenges at all if there are not going to be held accountable for their results. The judges appear to have made their decisions ahead of time. It is starting to look like a dog and pony show. In this I am refering to the elimination of Malcolm. He did great in the producer's challenge and was still sent home for his lack of a consistant POV.
Which bring me to my next thought. Asking them to come up with the concept of their show seems lazy on the part of the food network. Take a great personality and then build a show around that. Have your mentors come up with the ideas, they are the seasoned professionals. In fact, Alton GAVE Justin his POV "rebel with a culinary cause". Which dosen't even explain his food as much as the image he's creating. Dumping Malcolm for not having one and losing Emily when she had one that made sense, is criminal.
And my last point is, let up on the personal stories bit. Riding Emily for holding back was just wrong. She had the personality to carry a show, any show if not the POV she thought up, maybe one your Professionals could brainstorm. Pushing Yvan to expose his family's hardships was a cruel display of show crafting. I understand you want to make the FNS an interesting show to watch but forcing drama out of the contestants is underhanded.
To summerize, this show needs more defined rules and better communication to the contestants. Perhaps the mentors should be developing their team more off camera, developing a POV, coaching them on stage presence, giving support and ideas. Instead of this sink or swim mentality. The judges need to have a clear criteria for the inital challenge and the producer's challenge with decisions that reflect these criteria. If the drama factor is important to the developement of the show, then do more one on one camera time with personal questions to draw that out.
Oh, and you shouldn't have eliminated Emily.

  • Donna - 12 years ago

All the polls and surveys in the world won't matter, if FOOD NETWORK DOESN'T LISTEN and ACT on what people are saying.
