Should parents be allowed to spank or hit their children?

Of course spanking should be allowed. But not because "sometimes there's no other way" (although that is true) but because parents have a right to make those kinds of choices, period. Even when it is a choice, there is nothing wrong with the choice.

Spanking does nothing. It's just a temporary release of frustration of the parent projected towards the perpetrator ( the child ). It causes fear of the parent, not teaching the child a new way to behave. If you want your kids to grow up fearing you....spank them. If you want your child to grow up respecting you...... use alternate methods of discipline than spanking. When you spank, you also model to the child that you can get what you want by hitting someone.......later in life, they will do the same to others, perhaps even their spouse.
