gee, studies have proven she is right. Does that mean others are wrong? no, each has to birth in the way they feel is right for them. yes, baby is more alert, better able to bond, nurse, & clear secretions if not drugged, but if pain is keeping the mom from relaxing, it makes labor even harder, & it may not be possible for her to deliver naturally. In 3rd world countries babies & moms still die from birth much more frequently, even though the USAs stats are 41st of all the developed countries. Thank goodness, we have options! Even a drugged baby has a pretty good chance of survival here, so its not such a big deal which option a mom chooses. Even though a mom has a 4 times greater chance of dying after a surgical birth, 2 % of the babies would die or be damaged w/o one, and moms chance of dying from birth here are pretty miniscule either way! Still, for optimal outcome, Miranda is right. Nobody should be bashing anyone elses choice! It didn't sound to me like she was bashing anyone elses choice, just stating facts to back her choice. Variety is the spice of life after all!

I can't believe the fuss. She has the RIGHT to make her own decision for her own body and baby. Nowhere is she putting down mothers who choose differently, or had no choice due to circumstance! I also CHOSE to give birth naturally to my 4 children, drug-free, as I too didn't want any drugs in their system. Am I 'criticizing' other moms for making this choice? Do I think MORE of myself for it? NO. My body, my babies, my choice!
