You guys are crazy. 2012 without question. dont even bring jordan, bird, or magic into the equation. if you wanna talk about the 92 team's big guys, fine. but magic was slow, bird was a good scorer, but wouldnt be able to stay in front of anyone on todays team except kevin love and tyson chandler. excuse me, but who on that team would be guarding Lebron at 6'8 260 lbs who runs close to a 4.4 40....and KD at close to 7 feet with speed, dribbling skills, and that deadly stroke. not to mention Russell Westbrook, probably the most athletic player in NBA history. John Stockton? haha yea right. Im not even mentioning Melo , Kobe and the other lights out players with tremendous athleticism that could match any player in history shot for shot. Jordan was the most athletic player on that team, hed be lucky to be in the top 5 on this team as far as athleticism. The 92 team played a bunch of scrubs night in and night out with the best player they faced being Tony Kukoc. the 2012 team plays actual pros now in international play and they are still blowing teams out by 40. and this is without Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Chris Bosh, or Dwayne Wade. What the 92 team did for basketball and team USA was unbelievable and much appreciated. It will never be duplicated, but to say they would win is just people having pride in there generations players, not an accurate or realistic assesment of the two teams skills.

Why are you comparing Jordan to Kobe, it's very far from reality of course MJ will dominate. Why not talk about leadership that King James bring to the current team as what MJ brought to Dream Team... Talking about player's prime it's King James against MJ... But for who will win I would go with the 92 Dream Team...

c'mon, yes or no. maybe shouldnt even be a choice.
    i agree w/ kobe.

I was a fan of jordan but when you compare jordan vs lebron & kobe, not to even mention durant.. i'd say it wouldnt even be close.

has anyone watched the 92 team live?
its not about the stats or the sizes or speed of those players....the 92 dream team had chemistry, played very very very high iq b'ball and had players that quite frankly played the game in a beautiful way (with nba rules that meant that they would have to get quite physical every time they played the game, unlike the way players play the game today).
11 hall of famers. the 92 dream team was special. you can't top that.

No one even mention drexler dream team would win 9out of 10 and the only guy who was old was bird magic was 33 every one else was in thier late 20s yea real old lol

I would say 2012 I know dream team are good and have the skills but they also older and it's been long time they haven't played but 2012 are young and recently played Barkley can't run that fast maybe he be breathing a lot and so does Bird.

  • Jordan - 12 years ago

Gotta say, love the dream team, but yeah, the current team is just too fast, explosive, and athletic. Sure Jordan and Johnson may have more skill in their prime than others, but where is the support? The current team has damn good players all throughout the team, each with a different skill set that is unmatched by the dream team. They were amazing in their prime, but the game has evolved and so have the players skilled. New is better in this case.

the current team would be like any other team that the 92 team faced asking for autagraphs and jumping at the slightest chance of a photo with MJ

you guys are crazy.yes the 92 team are great this years team is at a disadvantage inside but i think every where else this team is better kobe vs jordan would be a show. yall keep forgetting who kobe is.dude scored 60 something in three quarters not to mention 81.magic would have his way unless you put bron on him thats the matchup i would like to see.simalar game but bron,s way more fluid and explosive.then who the hell is gonna guard durant?and i know you dont expect anyone from the dreamteam to keep up with chris paul.stockton?yeh right .i think it would be a good game but this team is to atheletic.to many mismatches.besides jordan vs kobe .i think the 92 team would get ran out the gym.this year team is a basketball fans dream.and while i do think kobe and jordan would almost be a tie.durant and lebron would be a nightmare for whoever the dreamteam selects to guard them pippen on lebron ?stop it.pippen on durant wow.bird can even think about staying in front of either.and i aint even mentioned melo.just imagine if this years team had everyone they wazz supposed to have .like bosh. rose. wade.howard.it would be a massacre.

LOL at Solomon... your chain of thought is way too one dimentional. sure, magic is a point forward who isn't laterally quick enough to guard deron or westbrook... but what about them guarding magic? you can't teach height and them 2 point guards are lacking in that department. put him in the post against those two dwarfs and boom, you have matchup problems. plus, his PG IQ is off the charts. Same goes for Stockton. Fundamentals beat fancy 11/10 times. and he definetely knows how to run a system. Not taking anything away from westbrook and deron, but magic and stockton can do damage as well. Kobe now is not at all a matchup problem for jordan in his prime in 92. Jordans too strong, too quick, too big to let Kobe take him.
lebron is lebron.. but besides lebron, who in this league is as good as a perimetre defender and inside defender as pippen? let's not forget, he too is a physical beast. He has the ability defend point guards from full court.

Quick is good.. but when you can dominate on the boards.. it opens up a whole new ass whooping for the opposing team. All in all, I'd say it would be close but let's not get too dramatic and say that one team would totally whoop the others ass.

Yall can cry out dream team this and dream team that but lets be real l and classify the fact:

John Stockton vs D-Will or Westbrook LOL Points too the 2012 team

Magic Johnson vs. D-Will or Westbrook LOL Magic is great and always will but he's not fast enough defensively to stop it.

Jordan vs Kobe Slug fest always has always will competing to see who the best to lace them up.

Pippen or Bryd vs Lebron...King James is too strong and to good of a finisher to be stop by neither one

Barkley vs. Durant.. Barkley gonna dominate but Durant gonna shoot his lights out cant trade 2's for 3's

and the 92 team when at the center position but that bench will torch the 92 teams bench got to be real harden..westbrook...love..griffen..odom..billups please give in the 2012 team would beat them by 10pts just because the PG,SF, & Bench is to heavily favored

I dissagrea with Kobe they have the best team since the dream team yes better thin 96 but not better thin the 92 team every player on the dream team is or will be a hallafamer and Jordan is the best of all time in his prime. But that is something that a competeditor like Kobe is supose to say lets see if they can avrage the same point differinchale as the dream team if they do I still woun't agree but his argument will have a better leg to stand on

  • jirohkanzaki - 12 years ago

Dream Team shot around 50% in their entire careers!
Current team can hardly shoot 44%.

  • jirohkanzaki - 12 years ago

Actually only Lebron stands out, Love's shooting touch for a big man is not even Larry Bird level...

  • jirohkanzaki - 12 years ago

    The original Dream Team.
    MJ
    Bird and Magic
    Stockton to Malone
    Pippen's defense
    Barkley's toughness
    The Admiral and Ewing

Only Lebron's athleticism and Love's stretch 4 outside shooting stand out compared to those greats...

  • al matta - 12 years ago

There has been and only will be one Dream Team. The 92' USA team would dominate from the inside out. Tyson Chandler wouldnt be able to do anything with Robinson & Ewing. I think Scottie could lock down any player this current team can throw at them. Barkley can be just as if not more physcial with Melo. Without Wade the smaller guards like Williams,Paul,Westbrook would have tremendous trouble with Magic. Whose going to guard a then still driving and dunking Karl Malone. The 92' team had more outside shooting with Bird and Mullin and Stockon. Even though Kobe is the closest to Jordan right now we are comparing an rapidly declining Kobe vs a Prime Jordan. 92' team would win by at least 15.
