Oh please... what a brat!
She has made a fortune off her fans and therefore has a repsonsibility to her fans to honor their wishes. This notion that she was so bruised over the "leaking" of this manuscript, that she simply couldn't go on... its either just pure nonsense... or its just an excuse to cover the fact that she's a talentless hack! There's many a rumor that she stole many of her ideas for "Twilight" from Harris' [Sookie Stackhouse] series and after reading Twilight... I can see it. I also read through some of the "Host" (one of the few books I couldn't finish), was just pure dreck... really violent against the women in the book and the story itself was all over the place.
I personally think she's afraid to finish "Midnight Sun" because its a point of reference of the male lead in the book and she just doesn't have the skill to write it well. But then again... now that she's a multimillionaire... she never need pick up a [pen] again!
If you're still a fan of this "author", I'd recomend you move on. She got what she wanted from you and the publishing house and I would be surprised if she ever releases anything again.

I can't tell you how angry I am at the person who leaked Midnight Sun! I would be fine if she deletes everything she wrote so far and rewrites it, or even if she decided to not write Midnight Sun, and maybe write a companion novel to New Moon or something. I really want to know what Edward was doing without Bella, and how he felt when he decided to leave her in attempt to save her. He is so selfless, and I loved seeing his viewpoint. Midnight Sun will likely not be completed anyway though, since vampires are kinda wearing on her. Maybe someday she'll come back to Twilight and finish the series. She must have felt awful when Midnight Sun was leaked! I can't even imagine what that would feel like!

The only problem is you created this Twilight world that we LOVED and then you gave us the partial draft which is so amazing it completed the Twilight book. You get the full story and makes you enjoy the Twilight book even more. It completes it and to give us a taste and then nothing more is like giving someone a bit of chocolate or ice cream and say that they is all they will ever get! I actually like Midnight Sun even better then Twilight. Please give us Edwards side of the story, you have given us Bella's and even Jacob's side was told. Edwards was always left wanting. Please do this for your fans. I know Twilight is over and there will be no more movies but please give us this book so we can sit and enjoy it and place it with our other Twilight books. I know this was suppose to be for young girls but I am not young and it was an escape at times when you need something to just get away too and it worked! I still cherish my books and the movies ( wasn't too crazy about New Moon just not enough Edward) I have all the movies too. But you started Midnight Sun and now if you don't finish it your Twilight story will always be incomplete. i went to stephenie meyer's website and read about half of the draft she put on it, and it was awesome!! i just stopped reading because its about midnight right now and i should probably go to sleep, but point is, it is AMAZING!! i hope she finishes it and it comes out soon!
