Does Windsor need a heritage tree bylaw to protect mature trees?

These homeowners should have the right to cut down this tree if it is on their property.
While I would like to see healthy trees maintained whenever possible, it should come down to the owner's wishes being respected as well. I'm sure that they might have been informed that subdividing this lot was an option before buying it.
If the neighbours thought strongly enough about this tree remaining standing, they should have pooled their money to buy the property and therefore maintained status quo.
As far as a bylaw to protect such trees, I'm for it as long as the tree is on public property such as a park and is also of significant historical significance. In this case, the city must then take on the responsibility of maintaining the tree.

Those neighbors should be embarrassed of what there doing. If they love the tree so much what about the people on Huron line. Did they not knock down 1000s of trees there. This city makes me sick.

How ridiculous did this news story seem. Do what you want with the tree. Whats wrong with people these days fighting for a tree. Use your time and energy fighting for something more important then a tree on someone else's property. Ridiculous!

as a tax payer, i should be able to do whatever i want to do on my property. i cut down a rather large pine tree this spring on my property, and didn't receive any flack from my neighbours. People need to mind their own business. How about channeling that energy towards helping actual people, it would be a much better place to live
