This should be an appointed position, or maybe one on which we could put out RFPs?
I mean, exactly how much "policy" discretion is there in this position ? (BTW,"policy" has the same Latin root as "politics")
If it is just some bureaucrat collecting money for us -- which is what I think it is -- he/she should not be elected. Same for the Assessor's Office. And Clerk of Court?
