Our middle school is actually 5th through 8th grade so we wanted to reflect that in our ministry. We also recognize the developmental issues there and separate 5-6th and 7-8th when possible.
There are a lot reason, data, and other locational things to keep in mind when it come to 6th graders in JHM. I will say this, the overwhelming reason for me is development and time. With their development you can argue them being with 5th grade or with 7 and 8th. To me it comes to time. The investment, the relationship and the influence that can be shared over 3 years is very substantial to me. Those are my brief thoughts.
