The Aurora theater gunman gathered a 6,000-round arsenal legally and easily over the Internet. Should federal law regulate such sales? (Poll Closed)

    Terry,

The shooter in Aurora did not have an 'assault weapon' despite what you hear on the media. It was not full auto, and is fundamentally no different, and in fact, lower powered than any typical hunting rifle.

These guns were banned in 1994 and the ban had no effect on violent crime using the banned weapons. When the ban expired in 2004, magically, there was still no change in the use of the weapons in crimes.

You are proposing a ban that will only impact law abiding citizens.

Ordinary citizens do not need military type assault weapons. Those are the only guns we are asking to be made illegal. Remember that.

It is illegal to shoot defenseless people in a movie theatre, violent criminals don't care about law, and they don't care if the weapons they use are illegal. Laws against killing people provide penalties for people who break the law, Laws against guns penalize people who don't break the law. Remember that.

This shooter in Aurora and anyone else for that matter, is NOT a law abiding citizen. Remember that.
