Yes, the dark sisters SHOULD make a holler about this song or any song that promotes lighter skin. Double standard you say? Well, as long as those of African descent continue to live in the fantasy that racism in America or anywhere else for that matter, NO LONGER exist and that emphasis on lighter skin shouldn't ruffle anyone's feathers . . . Remember four hundred years ago when many of the REDBONE SLAVE GIRLS and there little MIXEDBONE BABIES were the ones who got the privileges to live and serve in the Masah's mansion and wear the finest clothes, while the darkBONE slave girls got to plow in the fields, live in the shacks and wear cast-off rags while being raped and pillaged at the Masah's well and their MIXEDBONE BABIES were used as better looking prop slaves, yet again to fill the Masah's chambers? Those of you with the audacity to say I'm living in the past, grow-up! Anybody who has lived a minute know beyond a shadow of a doubt that a people who forgets their past are bond to repeat it. Eric Benet, who looks like a mixed case himself, is just like any other artist, he's gotta make a buck at the expense of his fan's dignity. His Masah the music industry who is owned and ran by racist bigots anyway tells him what to sing and he has to obey. So is the song racist? YES, don't try to charm dark women by singing about our legs. You didn't sing about redbone legs you song about the whole redbone woman. That's what darkskinned women are tired of-- being chopped up into pieces and served on a proverbial platter. You can piecemeal us, but you can't love and respect the whole DARK experience. In my opinion the song was sexist anyway. There was no love there, just 'baby let me lick your strawberry'. Sister learn from this and start respecting yourself, don't wait for your music artist who's driven by fear to respect you. You've heard enough songs, ballads, and poems about blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin. Write your own songs dark skinned women, a song of a respectful life then and only then will you attract a man that will sing about the whole you. And his song, ladies will be the one that really matters. Take it from a dark skinned sister who married an even darker skinned brother (20+ years) and had beautiful dark skinned sons who love themselves some dark skinned women . . . When I was coming up I don't have a problem with boyfriends, because guys wasn't as brainwashed by propaganda and media as they are today, yet I didn't wait for the little boys to sing my praises. I song my own song, they just added some more verses, HA! That's what makes you attractive to men, confidence in your own beauty.

This controversy is crazy. The man isn't singing about his real-life preference. I'm red-boned and growing up I found it offensive. But like everything else, you grow and don't think about it. His song about 'dark legs' wasn't offensive so why is this? We have other things in this world to worry about. Probably the only ones who are offended are the dark-skinned sistas. GET OVER IT! You could be shot in a theatre or walking down the street, then what difference will it make.
