    It is often difficult for states to individually raise gas taxes unless all the states around them do the same. The market is less distorted when the Federal government increases taxes uniformly in all states.

    all tax collected on fuel should be used exclusively on the repair and construction of road and bridges.

    No more than a .05 increase and limited to major infrastructure projects. Any more and the politicans will be spreading it around for such cash drains as High speed rail.
