correction----***gold, and silver medals*** you earned.

Lolo was the favorite back in 2008 when she bungled it up, crashed and lost at the Olympics. She WAS at that time the WORLD leader in the event....NOT Dawn Harper! Naturally, our blood-thirsty friends in the media make more of a story of the world leader FAILING than they did of Harper winning the Olympic title. I suppose had Jones remained upright and finished, the focus would have been more on Harper whipping Jones and earning the title, than Jones' failure. Jones was very (probably too much in most peoples eyes) emotional about the loss; therefore, setting herself up to be ripped apart by the media. I think Harper, and Wells are low class, self-centered, me,me,me's. They seem to think that THEY are the only one's who've had trials and tribulations along their ways, and THAT makes them deserving, and respect-worthy. WC sprinters and hurdlers have ego's that precede them, which is understandable because of the attitude they must have when they line up. Harper and Wells are certainly not the exception! Her coming across as "Lolo is the problem" reeks of jealosy, immaturity, and self-entitlement. So, "BOOM," there it is, Harper, and Wells. Enjoy the gold medals you earned.

I agree with those who say that harper and wells showed no class with their comments. We are glad that they won medals for the US but they could have won over more fans by showing more class. Yes there will be track fans who agree with them but many more that disagree with them. I hope lolo jones will continue to take the high road and stay clear of any negativism in regard to harper and wells. As christians we need to remember to overtcome evil with good, If harper and wells are christians, I don't know if they are or not, they need to remenber this. We Lolo fans like her because she seems to be a genuinely nice person. I will continue to root for harper and wells to do well whenever they represent the usa in competitions. It is not Lolo fault that she gets more attention then they do. But their accomplishment on the track speak for them. Don't tarnish that with negativism and jealously. As for the results in the 100 meter hurdles final it was no surprise Lolo got third in the US trials and she was the 3rd US woman in the Olympic final and 4th overall now really how bad is that? It's quite good. We knew it would very tough for Lolo this time around, it was, but congratulations to the 3 medal winners. I hold no animosity to Harper and Wells and I wish the best for them in the future, God Bless.

Harper and Wells are petty. It's too bad really.

Did they really mean to imply that Jones didn't work hard? Did Jones get all the way from essentially being a "walk on" to 1/10 of a second behind Wells in the final because Jones was pretty? Ridiculous.

On the plus side, 3 of the top 4 women in the event were Americans (Harper, Wells, Jones).

On the down side, none of them could beat the young Australian (Sally Pearson). So, in away, they ALL came up short.

I have no problem with what they said. For all of you talking about they wouldn't get endorsements, it appears as though staying quiet didn't get endorsements either. Sometimes they truth hurts. If you didn't follow their event leading up to the olympics you would have thought LoLo was the best the USA had to offer as she was all the media would talk about. Maybe if LoLo would stop taking seminude photos and throwing her virginity around people wouldn't be saying much. She tried to turn herself into the female Tim Tebow which she is. The only difference with track is exposes hype a lot quicker than football.

I'm embarrassed to be honest, I have never seen such an act of all my life, I use to remember when the USA, meant something when, we competed and showed the world, It was classless what these two women demonstrated, what happened to support your teamate, You wonder why, small countries like Jamaica are beating the US, its because they win as a Team, that is something we use to do.

As an african american man, I also am embarrased its the color scheme, light skin against dark skin, They made themselves look bad an they will pay for it, It is better to take the high road each person who is over there has had to sacrifice something to ge their, these women are more about themselves than team, they may have won their medals but they lost in Class.

To be a champion first you have to be human, thing that this two did't show at all. What abaut team spirit. In USA i know that is one of the most important think, but not shown here, not at all.I remember that after the Beijing Olympics no meter that she had a Gold Medal secured and lost it because of that mistake Lolo congratulate Dawn for the win, and she said that she wos happy that the gold medal wos win by the USA. This is why that can't and thay will never have the focus of the media, sponsos and what's the most important the respect and the love of the people, no matter what thay have win or are going to win. Shame on tham.

    Folks,
    A couple notes.

First, for those of you who think this is about color, you couldn't be more wrong. Don't forget, Lolo is half African-American, so keep the race card out of this. Besides, Lolo, like all of us, is a human being. Color has nothing to do with any of this.

Second, for those of you who think Lolo Jones is all hype, you need to do your homework. Her life is not about hype at all. She's the real deal. Just because she's beautiful and has received some press, to her merit, does not make her phony. Take some time and do your research and you will see how courageous, determined, strong, and accomplished she is. She deserves everything she has received and will receive.

Thirdly, if any of you who love to criticize, denigrate and keep putting Lolo Jones down, let's see you step up to the plate and attempt to do what she has done. In other words, "put up or shut up." Take some lessons that Lolo has shared with her life - be courageous, be determined, overcome extreme adversity like she has. Then you might understand why she is so very admired by millions of people the world over.

As an African American WOMAN, I am appalled by these to ladies comment and attitude toward a fellow team mate. Unfortunate they managed to perpetuate the negative stereotype of a black woman on a world stage. You two will never see an endorsement...... But even without a medal Lolo will!

  • Mrnoluv - 12 years ago

Sure it wasn't good sportmanship, but let's all be honest, Lolo was over-hype for a reason, she is more attractive. Look at these two women, who is more attractive of the three? The media focused on looks over talent, it may have been classless, but it is true.

  • Yve - 12 years ago

It has nothing to do with skin. Their character did not show of true sportsmanship and grace. If they felt the fame or glory wasn't on them it wasn't the time nor the place. I don't know either of the women's character. But I don't think Lolo deserved her teammates not showing any respect. They should have let that go like classy women. Just because you're dark skin does not give you a pass! We needwent to getyou off that. It hasto nothing toto do withyou color. It was focused on Lolo b/c of last olympics and how she fell and didn't make it. It was about redemption. I'm proud of the women for winning but show you are a champion and not a sore loser!

What a shame. Whatever happened to taking the high road??? That interview is an embarrassment to USATF. Obviously they have some very strong feelings about Jones. I guess they have never heard the expression, "let your game speak". Even though Jones did not medal, she appears to be the winner in regards to class and dignity. I hope someone Harper and Wells respect explain the merits of winning gracefully.

  • Subec - 12 years ago

As a black woman watching this I cringed the whole time. This is why black women get the labels that we get. They were stereotypical and absolutely embarrassing to watch.

  • Reel House Wife - 12 years ago

Call it what you want. Lolo Jones is the archetype for "don't believe the hype". Phony all around. It's refreshing to see the dark skinned girls (and the gold medalist) get their due. They deserved it all along. The darker the berry.....

  • Tracy - 12 years ago

Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells are pathetic and pitiful human beings. They just sealed their own fate with inappropriate comments about their own teammate. Lolo Jones is the kind of person companies want representing them, not just because of her beauty, but because of her grace and kindness. Harper and Wells obviously need to work on their character before any company would ever think of backing them, medalists or not. They need to knock the chip off of their shoulders!!!!

  • Adela - 12 years ago

It's obvious that even winning a gold medal has nothing to do with the class, grace or dignity of an athlete. The comments of Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells are pitifully petty, childish, unprofessional and based in jealousy, envy, resentment and bitterness - qualities that speak more of a tarnished medal than a gold one. The Harper and Wells comments were ugly and demeaning - more to themselves than Lolo Jones, who, because of her relentless spirit, courage, determination and gratitude, deserves the acclaim she has received. Her story is compelling and inspiration. It has also generated enormous publicity for track and field, something that Harper and Wells have never done. Lolo Jones may not have won a gold medal, but she certainly has won gold in the hearts of decent-minded people the world over. She's a winner, without question. Perhaps Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells should take a lesson from Lolo Jones in what it takes to be a true champion and . . . grow up.
