Do you agree with Pete Carroll's handling of the quarterback situation?

Matt Flynn is a quarterback who needs reps with his STARTING receivers to learn their quirks. Giving him a half with back ups does not showcase his talent. Even so he read the defense and took what he could. Mr. Wilson is an amazing talent who is learning fast BUT he needs to learn behind Flynn. His red zone pic against second and third team defenders clearly showed he has a difficult time reading the defense when in a shortened or compacted field situation. Coach is making a competition for the starting quarterback position more important than continuity for the first team offense. I pray that it works. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

Im nervous, because Pete is a defensive coach and how he has handled the quarterback
situation makes me nervous. I know the trend this year is to start rookie quaterbacks
but I don't think Wilson is ready.

Flynn has not been given a fair shake. No Rice and Baldwin for his first two games. No Zach Miller for his last game. No Winslow for his first game. Last week's game had a poor game plan: get the ball to Terrell Owens. This game plan took away Flynn's ability to see what the defense was giving him and throw the ball to who was actually open.

You have now took the heart out of Flynn who is the more polished quarterback.

You will give Wilson a shot just to make a statement that you believe in competition at every position. This philosophy is only taking away reps from Flynn who is the more prepared QB week 1.

Why the rush to get Wilson on the field? Why not see what you have with Flynn first and then move to Wilson later?

I see the logic of Carrol's handling of the situation. Flynn has more experience in the starting job, but Wilson's raw talent has proven to be more than enough to carry the team to wins. Four touchdowns cannot be ignored. I do think that Carrol needs to start Wilson against the Chiefs, just to see how he does with the first team offense of the 'Hawks and the defence of the Chiefs.
Kudos to Carrol for sticking with the constant competition thing. Inter-team rivalries, so long as they never get out of hand, can only serve to make the team stronger, but, Carrol needs to actually geve the winner a chance to prove themselves. In this case the winner is Wilson, so give him a chance against Kanasas City.

I thought Tjax would get a real chance to compete for the starting qb job! I mean he did beat out Whitehurst last year... lol... I thought he looked alil rattled at the begin of the season but improved an I thought became a leader on the field, someone the players respected! Now with that said, that's the only thing I didn't agree with when it comes to the qb battle. I like Russel!!! Flynn? Had anyone even heard of this guy until his starts at Green Bay??? I'll wait.... I thought it was crazy to give him the starting job without a real qb competition with quality competitor's!!! Flynn has not looked as sharp or seem to have that rhythm of the game like Russel!!! They both are new to the team an received the play book about the same time. Flynn has almost exclusively worked with the 1st all trainning camp. Let's see what Russ can do with them this week Pete!!! CANT WAIT!!!

I'm also don't drink the kool-aid that Carroll offers. His handling of the QB situation has been a disaster starting from brining in Whitehurst, then the release of Hasselbeck, then naming Jackson the starter, and now this circus.

Actions speak louder than words. His "always compete" mantra will come back to haunt him one day. How can you build a team where players can't trust their coach and are always looking behind their back? I wish Paul A. employs the "always compete" matra with Carroll, especially if they don't make significant advances this year (which I don't see happening).

Good judgement not playing Jackson in the preseason. I think a lot of coaches would've played him just because he's under contract. Thus far not sure I would've done anything differently, so I voted "yes" in the poll. Would like to see Wilson get the start this week, then a decision made about who the starter week one will be. Should be fun to watch.

I believe alot of what he is doing is to make sure the new QB has the support of the locker room and that the QBs keep pushing.

I've never been a Carroll fan, having said that how he's handled the QB situation is a far cry from when he first came to the Seahawks naming Tjax w/o any real competition, if there had been my biais opinion I think Josh would have got the starting job, both Tjax and Charlie are career back up if not 3rd string QB's. With both Flynn & Wilson the Seahawks won't be hurt, either will do a fine job. I'm pulling for Wilson.
