    Chael: 1
    Jones: 0

Chael is the man!!! Damn good fighter, good for the sport and a very intellegant guy. If I was Chael and wanted Silva's belt, you better damn well believe I would of took every strategy possible to mess with him.

This should be THE RULE. If you hold a (any division) belt and you are champ, you accept the challenge from anyone at anytime. Jones you are a crybaby and made the sport of MMA look bad by refusing...your a weak champion.

If anyone knows anything about Chael, he is a FIGHTER. In his matches with Silva he said I do nothing different because I train hard everyday, I don't take time off...This is my job and I love it so I got to work everday and train my ass off. Chael is ready because this is about fighting...not taking 4 months of prep work and strategy...get in there and scrap ya baby Jones.

I guess Jones has been hanging around with Mayweather and fights when he wants.Karma is a bitch so if he loses his title it could be a long time before he gets a shot again..

I wonder why it is not obvious that Sonnen's early tweet forray simply acknowledges the fact that he knew Henderson wasn't going to be able to fight? He was trying to ploy Jones into a fight and take advantage of the situation. Obviously Jones was aware of Sonnen's cheap tactics.

I enjoy following Sonnen, he is a unique individual. But for the keen eye, its hard not to see what's going on behind the scenes... Good Jones, you don't have to 'play the game.' In a way, it is about professionalism in fighting. Prepare for your fight, let your opponent do the same, and let's see who comes out on top.

Everyone here who voted Yes, only voted that way because they read the words that the "weirdo" Greg Jackson said. Chael may have been helping Hendo train, but there's no way he was in perfect shape, or anything close to it. He wasn't in the gym with him everyday getting him ready for this. Jones just showed his biggest weaknesses, his heart and his head. Those are 2 things that you can't make better by training. He's on a fast track out of the UFC. Watch what happens if he loses the title.

if your the champ you fight whoever they put infront of you, and you always stay ready Sonnen stepped up... Come on Jones man up!!!

Jones is supposedly a Fighter. He should have mental fortitude and he should have the confidence and skill to take the card change on short notice. Did Jones need someone's Grandma to step-up so he would be guaranteed a win?
UFC fighters should always be in shape it is their job and they should always be ready (we'll overlook serious injury). They chose this "occupation". Sonnen is fighter - during his career he is never going to be laying on the couch eating bonbons packing on the pounds. Like GSP the guy is always any fight ready as should Jones be.

U prepare for fighters based on their strengths and try to capitalize on their weaknesses....Three days is short notice to go and change your game plan up for a different fighter, especially someone who is pretty good..Jones was smart..He didnt say he wouldnt fight Sonnen ever..He just said not on such short notice...I dont think Jones is scared or has lack of balls at all....

I'm afraid we are going to see this more and more with some of the younger, "new school" fighters. I can't imagine ever seeing this with old schoolers like Couture, Liddell, Gracie, Penn, etc, etc.......more and more everything is becoming about "the business" not about fighting. It is very unfortunate.

You ask any champion in the UFC and I bet not one of them. Would take on a different fighter in a 8 day notice. Besides Dana didn't have to cancel the fight card. He could have put sonnen to fight belfort. That would have been a great fight.

  • Ryan - 12 years ago

    @BusterBrown

He just destroyed his career by saying "No"! Isnt that obvious
Now fans hate him even more, Dana will probably do what it takes to end him.
And he just lost a good amount of fighters their money....

    If he said "Yes"
    He'd either win or lose
that happens all the time anyway
    DUMB

  • ken - 12 years ago

The card being canceled is not Jon Jones decision that is all Dana White. Other fighters on that card whinning about loosing money because it was canceled should direct their comments to Dana. I respect Dana for what he has done for the sport but this decision was a poorly done and than blaming Jones for it is wrong. A In the words that Dana uses what the %*ck are you thinking Dana.

  • michael - 12 years ago

Yea I do remember that but there a difference there. It wasn't a 8 day notice. It was almost a month notice.

  • Buster Brown - 12 years ago

When Jon Jones stepped in as a replacement he was unknown not someone with the reputation of Chael Sonnent. As for the guy calling people names for voting yes* No ones going to destroy their career for your entertainment!

  • Ryan - 12 years ago

The fact that Chael hasnt fought any light heavy weights and doesnt "deserve" a title shot has nothing to do with Jones' decision. He made a decision not to fight a middle weight guy coming off a loss. Those actions speak louder than bombs for me. He IS a selfish fighter, he does nothing for the sport. He just lost 15-20 other guys paychecks for them. Its ridiculous a champion wouldnt say yes to any challenger. But whatever. If nothing else, it would have been a great fight! But with this Jones' has pretty much garunteed Chael a shot now.

  • T - 12 years ago

C'mon dude, you're a fighter! So fight! Everyone can get paid and the rest of us enjoy the show! Why would a champion fighter want to be seen as rationalizing his way out of a fight that's considered a good matchup? Just ask for a bonus or give back the best!

  • michael - 12 years ago

Its not about balls. Its about being smart. Sonnen hasn't even fought in light heavyweight in awhile and don't deserve. That title shot. He should have to beat some light heavyweights first. Then it would be right to say he deserves the shot. don't just give it to him cause he can talk trash.

  • Chad - 12 years ago

Does any remember when Rashad Evans got hurt and Jon Jones step in for him to fight shogun on short notice what if shogun would of refused to fight him?

  • Steve Smith - 12 years ago

Mr Buisness(Dana White) is mad because he didn't have a well rounded plan in case of a fighter not being able. Its all on the President of UFC to find or have a back up plan. whats wrong with Sonen fighting someone else, since he's so ready. its a lot of good fights the people want to see!

  • AJ - 12 years ago

As I fan I would have loved to see Jon Jones destroy Chael Sonnen, however, why do we even keep mentioning this d*** wad, didn't Silva retire him?

  • brian - 12 years ago

Everyone who voted yes is a moron. You all have no balls you Greg Jackson sport killers.
