Lousy editorial piece. Many nurses are opting not to get the flu shot in protest and rightly so. If you want protection from the flu, get the flu shot. Don't look to other people to protect you because it is their decision as to whether or not they choose to have a medication injected into their bodies that has been known to cause neurological disorders and contain toxins. Nurses don't owe the public immunity from the flu. They subject themselves to the public's diseases and viruses all the time as a job hazard and it is insulting that they should be held responsible for the general populous not coming down with the flu. The efficacy of the flu shot is widely controversial and I bet your editors did next to no research on that fact before writing that self-indulgent editorial piece. I personally think that if nurses are going to be bullied into getting the flu shot, then the rest of the general public should be forced to get it to also.
