I think you are limiting yourself and all of the choices are safer for you. You are young, healthy, handsome, and based on your writing style, quite intelligent. If you really want to build the life you want, you need to first demolish the one you have. Raze it to the ground. I don't mean cutting off family but putting yourself beyond the reach of your old life. Emigrate to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane. In other words, emigrate to Australia. The economy there is stronger, the gay community in cities such as Sydney is large and open. You would have to take a risk with no one familiar to catch you. You will have to quickly find a job, any job, and a place to live. In Sydney and Melbourne, there is a decent public transport system. Melbourne has more seasonal change than Sydney, but makes up for it in other ways. You will find it scary and at times might want to run home with your tail between your legs (or hairless thighs), but stick it out and you will have the life you want.
Now is not the time to play it safe and only climb to the top of the rut because you are still close to the edge and can fall into it, again. Vault out of the rut and get as far from it as possible.
