I believe that it is ones perogative to vote for whomever one pleases; however, in the case of Mitt Romney, it would be detrimental for poor people. Answer this for me, if President Obama had not gone to New Jersey to inform the Govenor that he will help the state get back on track, what would happen to those people. And at this point, regarding Cyclone Sandy, does it matter who is gay or who had an abortion. Governing does not mean that you ostricize individuals for their beliefs, and cannot decide as a political official who deserves help and who does not, it is not Christian and it is blatantly wrong. Besides, these are tax payers who deserve representation. How can the government take their money and help them.

I strongly believe that, Pastors should take a neutral position when discussing politics, to allow the congregation to make their on decision on whom to vote for. Choosing a candidate only looking at only one stance or position on one particular issue and not looking at the bigger picture, not looking at which candidate would be better able to serve their community based on social and economic status as a whole can lead to a very unfavorable outcome should the wrong candidate win, especially in this election.

Its really sad when I read some of these comments. I will not be voting period. Things are gonna get worse anyway that's why we are suppose to be relying on God!! Some of y'all need to really read your bibles. Sounds like some of you haven't. The economy is where it's suppose to be jacked up. We in the end times people. Put your faith in God not the President. You have to stand before God. Not Obama or Mitt. The economy is suppose to get bad this is why we should rely on God for everything. My pastor didn't tell me not to vote. This is my decision. Neither candidate is going to fix everything. Y'all need to realize and prepare yourselves for Christs return. Same sex marriage is wrong and I will not support someone who believes it ok it's not. Read your bible. The bible is our guide. It's only one bible not 2 not 3. Wake people

People need to come back to reality. Who have not sinned, who have lived a clean life before God. Who can honestly stand before God and say I am as clean as new fallen snow. I cast my vote and comment on this junk because not only is the President headed in the right direction, but after decades of mess do honeslty think it will take four years to clean it up. Blacks need to get a grip. If they have forgotten where they’ve come from they better realize where they will be if romney get into office. If you have ever seen the movie The Help that's just where romny want balcks to be. Open your eyes ands see the big picture. Rome was not build in a day. Pray for our president that he will make the right decisions and stop trying to cricify him for trying. Don't think for one minute that the poor especially the blacks will be on the top of romney's they need help list. If they are on it at all.

My, my, my! Aren't we something! We have indeed "moved on up". . . Days were when black preachers were content to spread the word of God that Jesus Saves!!!! JESUS SAVES!!!! Not the "Bishop", Elder, Preacher, etc. JESUS SAVES!!!!!!! Knowing this, I can certainly see that the "Ministers's work is pretty cut out. Minister to the poor, feed the hungry, comfort the distressed, etc. Until every soul has heard the gospel (at least those in their churches) then you have no time to spend trying to change God's priorities for His people. When He said, "Let My People Go" He meant FREEDOM!!!!! for His people.

How dare some arrogant preacher stand in his pulpit and spit at the feet of his congregants in such a way as to imply that they (preachers) have the authority to divert the attention of God's people. Preacher Man, do you know that there are people who have come to God's house because they a spiritually and physically HUNGRY. They come to you because you or some one who knows you have put out the word that Jesus Saves and you were willing to help them find the way. If you are more interested in being a devil by doing the opposite of what God "CALLED" you for, then go for it. However, you don't know enough to influence our people in ways that will further their pain and suffering. Please! let's let God be God and if you have a problem being HIS servant, that's ok! But don't contaminate the pool with your problems.

I am working to relieve suffering and help people. When we have exhausted that pool of people, then maybe we will have some time to sort out our own prejudices and become humble enough to realize that GOD loves us all and that it is only through HIS love that any and every one of us can be worth the air that it takes to keep us alive. Be patient my brothers and sisters! There is nothing that you or I can do to destroy the Kingdom of God! So...... let's look at the bolder in our own eyes First and Foremost! If God could remove your bolder, then trust Him to remove the bolder from all of our brothers and sisters . GOD IS FAITHFUL EVEN WE ARE NOT!
    Thank You

    Your sister in Christ

I don't think that ANY Pastor has the right to tell anyone who to vote for. First of all, the only reason they can pick on the gays is because the are visible and speak out to let you know they are gay. Their preference is their sin. How many pastor have married thieves, liars, whoremongers and MURDERERS? It was President Obama's choice to announce his approval for gay marriage. He is a Government employee and it is the law of the government that gays may marry.THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOD'S LAWS !!!
I think President Obama spoke on his personal feeling of same sex marriages.
I didn't hear any big disagreement about re-election of George Bush.. HE LEFT THIS COUNTRY IN A MESS !
PRESIDENT OBAMA DIDNT MAKE THIS MESS IN 4 YEARS.
LET'S STOP BEING HATERS AND BE REAL FOR ONCE..

WHO DID CHRIST TURN HIS BACK ON!!!!!! Let's remember no sin outweigh the other I have family and friends who are gay but I can't live their life just like they cannot live mine I don't judge anyone because Jesus died for our sins not me so Jesus is the ruler over the saints and the sinners. Maybe everyone needs to have a little talk with Jesus instead of talking among themselves. Peace & Blessings

First I would like to say who are we to judge, for those against same sex marriage then that's their choice and the same for those who are not against it the same rule applies to them as well it's their choice. What we need to focus on and pray on is that the right man is elected for President, no man is perfect not in the White House, The Pulpit or anywhere so let's stop pointing fingers. If your able to vote than you should because it's the opportunity that's needed if you want to be apart of change for America. Remember at onetime we were not allowed these privileges to vote. Every man and woman is responsible for his/her own sin and that's in the Book. Thank you for letting me share

For all those ministers who chose not to vote please be prepared to take care of your flock when all services to those who need it the most are discontinued. Are you prepared to feed, doctor or educate when all social services are taken away by the GOP candidate ? I think not. I also and against gay marriage, but that does not make me LOVE my PRESIDENT any less. There is not one gay person on this earth that can send or keep me from HEAVEN. Dont be a hypocrite !!! Homosexuality, lying, cheating, fornicating, stealing are also sins. Have you removed those in your flock that have done these things ????? Remeber the only person qualified to JUDGE is GOD.....

  • June Lauremce - 12 years ago

These pastors need to get real and to realize there are worst things in the world than gay marriage. When u stand before God u won't be judged according to ur sexual preference. What about acceptance and forgiveness don't they also teach that. I'm tired of these bible thumping hypocrites.

I refuse to vote for man who openly supports same sex marraiges. We will stand before the Lord one day. Dont forget that. Remember Barak has the power to put things in place to support the enemys kingdom.

The voters just need to know one thing. President Obama is NOT trying to dictate to the people "how they should live their own lives, or deny them doing what their religion tells them to do, nor is he saying it conforms to HIS RELIGION. He is just supporting those same RIGHTS to be given to EVERY American. GWBush went against the US Constitution, and Mitt Romney says he would do the same thing, on many issues that have come up during this campaign. If you allow a political Party to trash the Constitution in ONE area, what happens with all the other areas in which that Party disagrees with the Constitution? If you don't vote for the man who SUPPORTS ALL PARTS OF OUR CONSTITUTION, YOU ARE NOT SUPPORTING OUR COUNTRY. Then how ''safe'' are your religeous beliefs, OR ANY OTHER BELIEFS OR RIGHTS, going to be from legislation in the future. There goes "EQUAL RIGHTS", forever, Then the repeal of ''equal pay'', then the ''right to privacy'', "women's rights" , " aid to dependent children", "affordable health care for all", "no use of contraception", ''no abortion, even to save the life of the mother", "no doctor required to tell you the ''truth'' about your medical condition", "no religions" EXCEPT the Christian Religion", and "no laws against racial discrimination". There would be no end to the damage it would do. ALLOWING, through the votes of Congress, GWBush to trash the Rights HE trashed, gave these Republicans the implied support to campaign on taking away more Rights. Do you REALLY WANT THIS? Think, then VOTE!

  • Wbischo - 12 years ago

When you vote you are using your RIGHTS which are guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. When you ask a President to choose to deny someone else those rights you are asking him to break his pledge as President. It doesn't matter what a President ''thinks'' or believes in his own heart, he MUST SUPPORT THE COUNSTITUTION. Gay Marriage is mandated by the Constitution, which gives ALL CITIZENS "EQUAL RIGHTS". What any given specific religion mandates its followers to live by, can not be supported by ANY LAW OR ANY PRESIDENT, no matter what he personally believes. That is the law we all live by, in order for EVERYONE to have the FREEDOM TO PRACTICE THEIR INDIVIDUAL RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. That is what makes us different from the Countries in the Middle East, and what makes it possible for all people of ALL RELIGIONS, to live here in PEACE. What these people are asking, is to have a President who would willingly break the laws of our Constitution, BECAUSE it conflicts with ''their Bible", and ''his Christian Bible". Mitt Romney and the Republicans say THEY WOULD NOT FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION. The Constitution was written to specifically NOT SUPPORT ANY RELIGION OR ANY RELIGIOUS BELIEF. I don't understand why so many people won't ACCEPT THAT.

Our ancestors have died for our right to vote. It's absurd that a leader in the African American community would advise his congregation not to vote. This crabs in a barrel mentality is one our problems in the African American society. I would like to believe that as adults we can think independently and form our own opinion. GO Barrack!!!!!!!

  • Gloria J Parker - 12 years ago

Please everyone vote If you are a real follower of Christ no man can turn you around!

  • Juanita - 12 years ago

I find it hard to believe that preachers would choose to abstain from voting or that they would suggest that their members not vote. I also think that it is wrong for anyone to allow ANYONE to tell them not to vote. The President of the United States is elected to represent ALL of the people of the United States. It is his RESPONSIBILITY to make sure that ALL citizens are protected under the law. ALL citizens are guaranteed equal rights under the law. This is not about changing the Bible, or amending the Bible. It is about American LAW! President Obama is doing his BEST to represent and protect US ALL! His opponent, on the other hand is part of a party that has chosen to disenfranchise some of us from voting in order to win the election. If they are allowed to do this, and if he wins because some of us choose to not show up on election day, what do you think will become of our rights IF he wins? The choice is clear! And if its not, go in blindfolded an pick somebody! Just as we don't want Christ to have died in vain, we don't want those who fought for freedom to have died in vain. I pray that people will come to their senses by election day!

For every Saint has a past, and every sinner has a future... Stop antagonizing one man for his personal belief and choose for the GREATER good. Barack can't send me neither you to hell only you can do that. I'm pretty sure we all have someone we love that is either gay or homosexual. Love the sinner but hate the sin. Jesus never turned a sinner away learn from his practices.

  • Vickie - 12 years ago

Preachers are so hypocritical, all people are are somebody. We have preachers who are against gay marriage but you have gay musicians in your churches. When you judge always remember the finger is pointed back at you. God loves everyone regardless of your being straight or being gay. So preachers who are telling your congregations not to vote you ought to let them be the judge and not you telling what to do. God said love everyone as he loved you. Don't speak to quick for you know not what your child, grandchild or someone within your family may become.
