Now that you have your answer that a strong majority of the community you serve views your work as having a liberal bias, the question is, "Will you do anything about it?" The answer, I am afraid is, "No."

I have been waiting since May 12th to get a letter to the editor printed. I can only conclude at this point that letters with a conservative viewpoint are censored.

Of course they are left leaning. They have been getting better with their political cartoons, but what I am concerned about is that this paper is endorsing candidates for office. To me this represents an agenda. Almost all the candidates they endorse are left leaning in their ideals (neo-cons). If you do your own research and believe that candidates should be principled than do not trust any media endorsement.

I think the News-Press tries to present both sides, which is what a newspaper is supposed to do, but biased and narrow-minded people think theirs is the only viewpoint that should be allowed to be published. They only want to see articles and news that agree with their prejudicial views, and do not want to see or hear anything that goes against their own beliefs. Political discourse is becoming strident vitriol. So sad. No wonder so many people are turned off by politics and don't vote.

I didn't know Michelle Malkin, Charles Krauthammer, Kathleen Parker, and the other conservative authors of articles put in this paper would be considered "Liberal".
So if the paper has ANY articles that may be construed as "Liberal", the entire publication is always liberal?
It is so disheartening to think that presenting both sides of a situation is considered leaning one way or the other. You the reader, have the choice to read what you want in the paper. To characterize this paper as liberal is laughable.

Of course its liberal, along with its sister IndyStar.com both owned by the same person who wants to force his beliefs upon all of America.
Its a shame that we've come to this, looks as though the lamestream media wants to destroy this country.
The truth is what America needs, not lies from the left to further their cause..

The funny thing is when you talk to a conservative its a liberal rag and when you talk to a liberal its conservative. When you see answers like that you know the magazine plays both sides to illicit a response.

The quality of the stories and the writing are another matter all together.

The Snooze-Press is the most liberal rag controlled by the left. I’ve been a subscriber since the mid 90’s and am ready to cancel my subscription. I am tired of reading their leftist, bias reporting. The letters to the editor is a total joke. You have the same people writing the same nonsense with their off the wall pointed views. I don’t understand the rational of the mayor of Cape Coral always offering his opinion as a guest writer. Pure bunk! That’s what happens when there is a monopoly.

To those who know that News-Press is just another leftist newspaper don't start buying the Naples Daily News----it is far worse> I am a longtime subscriber and a longtime sufferer but what is/ are the alternatives?? Drudge!

The selection of Macgregor for a political cartoonist shows me the News-Press staff injects the bias where they can. His distorted views must be from MSLSD land.

The News-Press is over the top in their liberal views but it can be expected by a newspaper that in owned by USA Today. As Richard Krieger stated, it is too bad we don't have any other choice.

  • Paul Reynolds - 12 years ago

Obviously the 19% who think this newspaper is conservative only read the classifieds.

  • Richard Krieger - 12 years ago

Since the present publisher arrived from Washington, the change in direction has been very noticable. Just look at the selection of letters to the editor that they have chosen to print.

I wish I had an alternative but we all need access to local news. My continuing subscription is not a vote of support but a necessity. I have even tried to get the Naples Daily News delivered as an alternative, without any luck.

Your reporting mimics that of other left slanted publications. Fortunately, there are a few sources that provide a more factual, balanced view of reality. Don't you have a Board made up in large of Democrats?
