No, but we should ban memes and the like, they are not funny, nor does the endless repetition of ugly painted comics or random photos help emphasizing the opinion of the respective poster. Use text instead!

r/atheism has a huge user base and as such can be a huge positive influence if this were implemented. just want to point that r/trees has actually gotten better as this was implemented. r/atheism seems like a better candidate because deconversion and debate are such hot topics and not many users are familiar with discussion centered subreddits. besides, I would hope that the default position for this subreddit isn't an inclination towards the internet version of soundbites– easy and simple to understand, quick ego boosts for people who hold a given view. someone who visits r/atheism might deconvert before understanding the arguments for/against faith, and that hurts us as a movement. so, therefore, yes. self post days, PLEASE.

Its an upvote system. people who go to r/Atheism want to see the stuff that's on there because they upvoted it. If you want deeper discussion try trueAtheism or a subreddit where people want to read self posts. Or filter out memes and pictures with RES. r/Atheism is the way it is because majority like the funny graphic comparisons between being atheist and being religious. That's what I come here for today; a quick chuckle and outrage at the bible belt memes.

I've been saying this for the looooongest time. Whether anyone likes to acknowledge it or not, there are many problems inherent within reddit; whether anyone acknowledges or not, memes are one of these problems. Memes are too simplistic, and there are far too may alleles.

We should do this. Even though the memes are great, they get in the way of people trying to voice their stories and seek help on what they should do. Once a week we should have a text-only day.

Seems to me that yes voters should just upvote text only submissions one day per week rather than impose their beliefs on the rest of us. Reddit is already a democracy, there is no need for additional limitations.
