Katz is becoming strongly disliked in Edmonton, and even people in Seattle were pretty active in saying that they did not approve of his tactics.
I think Edmonton should build the arena on its own, and charge Katz an appropriate amount of rent. Chances are we are entitled to more than he is currently pretending to give us. A lot more.
The NHL won't move the Oilers if there is an arena. If we own it (maybe Northlands runs it), we could reinvest the revenue in the community.
Plus, I would just LOVE to see the look on Katz's face!

Tell Mr. Katz to take a hike if he doesn't like the original deal that was negotiated. He can take HIS hockey franchise to another market and see how well he can sell tickets for a losing team with no history in their new home city.
