I have been a die hard jet fan most of my life and it never ceases to amaze me what Rex can do to our team with his Mouth .He needs to try and win some games ,they have the talent ,but he is not leaving up to his mouth or the hype surronding his ego .

Mcelroy should be the starting QB. He's the best QB on the team. Tebow is the best running back on the team. Sanchez is not the best anything.

Tim Tebow - Can only respond to the contrived, limited, opportunities given him.
How does he compare with other quarterbacks in this league that had been at this point in their careers - (STARTING 16 Games) -- Consider some comparative reality via facts -
especially you Tim Tebow Haters (I wonder why...??)

The facts show that Tim Tebow is off to a better start as an NFL quarterback than many of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Through his first 16 starts, Tebow won more games (9) than Peyton Manning (3), Troy Aikman (3), Steve Young (3), Aaron Rodgers (5), Matthew Stafford (6), Sam Bradford (7), Eli Manning (7), John Elway (8), and Drew Brees (8). Tebow accomplished that with a team that was 1-4 before he took over, and had won only 7 of its last 24 games.
In his first 16 starts, Tebow led his team to a playoff victory. None of these other greats did that. In fact, it took Peyton Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, five full NFL seasons to lead his team to a playoff victory.
In his first playoff game, Tebow threw for 316 yards in a winning effort — against the best defense in the league.
It is so difficult for an NFL quarterback to throw for 316 yards or more in a playoff victory that Ben Roethlisberger has never done it. Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers have each done it once. Tom Brady, John Elway and Joe Montana each did it twice. Eli Manning did not throw for that many yards in a playoff game until this season. And those other quarterbacks had some of the best receivers in the NFL. Tebow is also near the top in another important measure of an NFL passer, which is the number of touchdown passes per pass attempt. In his first 16 games, Tebow averaged an impressive one touchdown pass for every 23 pass attempts (1-23). The same as Peyton Manning. Better than Steve Young (1-46), John Elway (1-36), Drew Brees (1-34) and Tom Brady (1-36). And just slightly behind Aaron Rodgers (1-21), Matthew Stafford (1-21), and Eli Manning (1-21).
Even more important is the fact that Tebow threw very few interceptions per pass attempt. Just one pick for every 43 pass attempts (1-43). That’s twice as good as Peyton Manning (1-21). Much better than Elway (1-19), Stafford (1-26) and Eli Manning (1-29). Better than Brees (1-34), Brady (1-36), Rodgers (1-39) and Bradford (1-40). This fact is particularly important, because ESPN contends that the chance of a team winning an NFL game goes down 20 percent with each interception a quarterback throws.
Through 16 starts, Tebow has a far better touchdown pass-to-interception ratio (17 touchdowns-9 interceptions) than Peyton Manning (26-28), Brees (15-15), Stafford (28-23), Bradford (18-15), Elway (10-19), Aikman (12-25) and Young (9-16). Tebow’s rate is also better than Eli Manning’s (21-14), and the same as Aaron Rodgers’ (23-12).
According to these key factual measures of an NFL passer (wins, touchdown passes, interceptions, playoff performance) Tebow is off to a better start as an NFL passer than many of the great passing quarterbacks in NFL history.

Tebow should replace Sanchez only because he will make the games more exciting. I doubt that he will win any more games than Mark would, but they will be more interesting. The Jets obviously need a new coach...

Want to see Tebow play as a QB with any team, and I urge Tebow to go to another team, so he can play. He needs more experience and won't get it on the Jets. Rex Ryan is committed to Sanchez, even when the score is 24-0 and there's 13 minutes left, and Sanchez has done nothing remarkable in the first 3 quarters. Sanchez does not deserve to be the starting QB next game, but I'm betting he will be the starter anyway. So sad to see a talented Heisman Trophy Winner, who took the Broncos to the playoffs last year, and defeated the Jets and Steelers in the process, not playing as QB. It's more than sad, it's ridiculous!

Tim Tebow is not a quarterback. College has no bearing on the pros. The number of hotshot college QBs who were roadkill in the NFL outnumbers the successes. Sanchez may be another one, but Tebow certainly is. He should be a fullback or tight end. He'd make a real, sustainable impact then.

The Jets problems go far beyond quarterback. There's no part of their game that isn't weak.

What a joke of a team. When Tebow begins to start games is when I will start to puke and sell my Jets tickets forever.

I am probably one of the biggest Sanchez supporters you will ever meet but I want to see more Tebow! The Jets are not utilizing him correctly. They have him come in for one or two snaps and thats it? What was the point of the trade? Tim can be vital to this team if they let him. It blows my mind that yesterday in the 4th quater, down 27-0, sparano and rex STILL did not put Tim in the game. If they didn't do it then when the hell are they going to do it? I think Mark Sanchez takes a lot of beatings and bullshit from the media and I understand his struggles from last season, but what they hell is going it on? Why is he throwing into double coverage and basically when nobody is even there! We need ground and pound to be affective and I think Tebow brings a lot to the table. I could even see Tebow as a fullback or tight end! I don't care what positon I want Tebow.

Vikki --- I have news for ya "mild heroics" are often-times what it takes to win football games. It's what separates the men from the boys. Also, get your stats straight. Tebow's one throw was for 9 yards, and it was a completion. The fact that the receiver proceeded to fumble the ball is not Tebow's fault. I also get hot under the collar when clueless Tebow haters claim "he is NOT a quarterback" or that "he cannot compete in this league. That is a load of clueless factually incorrect B.S. First of all, as for being a quarterback, Tim Tebow is a Heisman Trophy-winning (the youngest EVER) 2 time National champion starting quarterback. When John Elway FINALLY had the balls to put Tim Tebow in as 1st string quarterback for The Broncos, Tim Tebow "quarterbacked" the team to it's first playoff berth in over a decade. Tebow then proceeded to quarterback The Broncos into a stunning victory their first game in the playoffs against The Pittsburgh Steelers by ("heroics" or not) throwing the winning touchdown. "Cannot compete in this league"???? I beg to differ, Vikki. You clearly have no idea what it truly takes, and it is a whole lot more than just the ability to complete a pass. It is so much more. Tim Tebow is a gifted athlete, unconventional as he may be, who has been underestimated his entire career and yet delivered championships in high school...in college...and will likely do it as a pro if he is ever given the chance to play for a team who will believe in him like he believes in the team and their ability to achieve the seemingly impossible. Tim Tebow's passion is infectious. It lifts everyone around him to a higher level. I believe with every fiber of my being, as I am sure Tim Tebow does as well, that he can turn this clunker of a Jets team around and take them to the playoffs this year -- team injuries and all -- but he cannot do it from the bench. The sooner Rex Ryan sees the Tebow light, the sooner The Jets can have something (and someone) to truly root for. Yes, Vikki, it is sooooo "Tebow Time". When it happens, I bet even YOU will become a believer.

Tim Tebow is still a very young Quarterback in the NFL. In his 3rd season, 1st with the Jets, he still has a lot to learn in the game. Then again he doesn't. After watching every game he played as the starter QB in Denver, he owned the field. He struggled almost every game last season in Denver then came back with a remarkable 4th quarter comeback and some in O.T. win victories. He took a 1-4 team into an 8-8 winning playoff team who beat the #1 defense in the NFL, the Pitt. Steelers. After watching a few Jet games, Sanchez has a great first game against the Bills. Then he suddenly decreased his skills to play the game after the last few games went by. He couldn't make a touchdown yesterday, he couldn't even get a good position for a field goal attempt. I think it is safe to say that Tebow needs to be presented as the starting quarterback position for the New York Jets. He has the talent, skills, mindset, and above all, Jesus. He's very confident in what he does, and will do his job as long as Coach Ryan will give him the opportunity to be the starter. Go Tebow!!!

Coach Ryan remindes me of Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys when he kept Roger Staubach as backup quarterback to Craig Morton . Roger was a heisman trophy winner with a winning track record at the Naval academy including taking Navy to the Cotton Bowl as is Tebow is heisman trophy winner with a known track record of winning at the Univ. of Florida (Gators ) and then he took over as the starting Quarterback at Denver Broncos last year and turned a losing season around so the Broncos were in the play offs. What else do you need to know.

Tom Landray hobbled Roger Staubach so he only had two Super Bowl Wins for the Cowboys - If he had allowed Roger to call his own plays ( instead of the percentage plays) Roger would have made the Cowboys 4 Super Bowl wins. The very fact that Coach Ryan is holding a known asset up like Tom Landry did behind a Quarteback ( Craig Morton ) that can't win shows that Ryan is incompitent and I would conact Jimmy Johnson who has 3 Super bowl Wins and offer him the coaching position - that would kill to losers with one stone.

I would find out who the winning Coach was at Univ. Folrida that coached Tebow and offer him the job. It time to unleach a winner ( Tebow ) and tell Joe Namath he is running his mouth again - his actions in the beginning of his time with the Jets were not that great either.

when your 500 the only place to go is up why not start tebow he was successful in denver and college why not start him the worst that happens is you hurt Sanchez's Feelings.

  • Lenny - 12 years ago

Tebow Time! He is not an unknown.. We saw what he did at Denver. Agree with Dave that coaches will look bad when Tebow succeeds. MissVicki - His one pass was for 9 yards. And are you insinuating that it was Tebow's fault the receiver fumbled???? LOL!

  • Jackson - 12 years ago

Tebow would be successful if they ran the spread like he did in college. He is simply not a dropback passer. With db's across the field, the reads are much simpler, and he has room to run if he gets through the line. And he needs an RB like Percy Harvin. Only problem is that no NFL team will run the spread option.

  • Dave Sears - 12 years ago

The Jets coaches and management are reluctant to play Tebow because they are fearful that he will succeed and make Sanchez look bad. After all, they gave Sanchez a (3) year contract extension just prior to picking up Tebow. With a little over thirteen minutes remaining in the fourth quarter against San Fran and the score 24-0, why not put Tebow in and let him do his thing? After all, he usually finds a way to win and has proven it throughout his life. It is doubtfful that he could have pulled this game out for a win, but I would bet that it would not have been a shutout. Tebow is not the stereotypical NFL quarterback, but he has heart and a determination to win. He also has an unknown intangible that drives him to be successful and the best that he can be. He is the ultimate team player.

  • Vikki - 12 years ago

Are you seriously noting the fact the Tebow was "perfect" throwing the ball...HE COMPLETELD ONE PASS FOR 2 YARDS that resulted in a fumble!! He is not a quarterback, terrific athlete but cannot compete in this league. The Broncos defense is what won those games, aside from mild heroics by Tebow.

I voted yes to start Tim,but not sure if he is really the answer for the Jets problems. But TIm made plays and wins happen in Denver
