There's really no need to bash on South Jersey or Anthony Colofranson for that matter. You say that you've never heard of our school, Gateway, but at the same time.. I can honestly say that I've never heard of any of the other schools either. I don't know how goal count isn't a good statistic, isn't that what the game relies on? Even if you look past the amount of goals he's scored, he still has a significant amount of assists too. So please, know your facts before criticizing South Jersey and the players that come from there. Regardless of the results, anyone who knows Anthony knows he should have won this, considering Mike Moshier doesn't even have Google search results.

    Go gators.

Listen, I don't even go to Gateway and I hear about this kid all of the time. No need to hate on a kid that has amazing talent. They Play different group schools so before you go saying that this kids talent isn't such a big deal after all, you thought wrong. Let's see your kids score 100 goals then say something.

Everyone stop! This has gotten too crazy! Kudos to all the boys who have been recognized here. You have obviously done something extra special. Keep up the good work.

  • DelbyFan - 12 years ago

Who cares how many goals he scored. its not just about that there are more important things...

  • Caitlin Mayer - 12 years ago

You know Joe, as a high school soccer coach you should be even more ashamed of yourself. I DO know the facts...and the main fact that you can not dispute is that he IS the leading scorer in ALL of NJ...to say he isnt an exrtaordinary soccer player because he isnt playing bigger schools is ridiculous...106 career goals as to date speaks for itself. I feel your opinion is completly biased and irresponsible.

And too funny, what mother wouldnt chime in when her kid was the only one being bashed? I dont see you guys disecting any of the other players in the poll. could it be because they're all from north jersey, or is that just a coincidence?

  • Really Funny - 12 years ago

Oh Come On Caitlin....you gotta admit it's historic that his mom posted.

  • Joe Colodne - 12 years ago

Shame on you for not knowing the facts. I've seen the kid play and I have seen virtually every decent player in the state at showcases and tournaments. Take my word for it, he would not be scoring anything close to 100 goals against better, bigger schools.

  • caitlin mayer - 12 years ago

hey joe and really funny...you should be ashamed of yourselves. these kids play for the love of the sport and no one was bashing any of the players on here. Im sure they all deserve a spot on this poll for their abilities in soccer. To bash one kid because he is from south jersey is ridiculous..have you seen him play? im guessing you haven't. I didnt know North Jersey had the market cornered on soccer skills..someone better let the recruiters know, because according to you they've been going to the wrong games.

  • Joe Colodne - 12 years ago

Colofransan is on the 66th ranked team in the state. I would tend to agree that he gets more press than appropriate for his skills as compared to the better players and better club and high school teams. I suspect there is a whole lot of hype coming out of the southern part of the state.

  • Really Funny - 12 years ago

I think for the first time we actually have a person's mom chiming in with a vote, or 2, or 2000. No way the kid from Southern part of the state even belongs on the list. Not part of ODLP, or on an recruiting radars. Better players on JV up here.

    GOAL ENVY

You would have to see Anthony play to know what we here in South Jersey know. In case there is any doubt, Gateway has played games against bigger schools who have more of a pool to pull from....and yes he still scores all while having 3 or 4 defenders assigned just to him. His goal scoring ability is no fluke... and more impressive is what he has to do to score those goals. Good luck to all 10 boys nominated in this poll. The fact that you have been recognized means your doing great things.

  • Gateway Misconception - 12 years ago

    1. To say that Colofranson plays "weaker" teams is False. His school happens to play other schools of similar student capacity.
    2. When he does play these so called "weaker" schools he scores while fighting through 3, 4, and most times 5 defenders sticking to his every move.
    3. He also plays for a club team (currently ranked 4th in the state of NJ)and is the leading goal scorer on that team as well!

The fact that Gateway is NOT in the Northern part of NJ is probably the reason you haven't heard of it! If you ever get the chance to watch this kid in action, you would know that his 106 career goals to date are no accident!

Anyone who has the pleasure of seeing this kid play is witnessing a Superstar in the making!

Yes gateway soccer, there is definitely a debate. His goal tally is impressive, but he's scored against teams that are FAR from impressive. The level of competition he faces, week in and week out, is so much weaker then that of any of the top teams in New Jersey. He's a good player on a team that no one's heard about, nor cares about.

  • gateway soccer - 12 years ago

Anthony Colofranson.. over 100 goals...is there seriously even a debate? none of these kids even come close...this kid plays high school just for fun!

  • Shooter McGavin - 12 years ago

I personally feel that Jesse Naar of the Montclair Kimberley Academy should be nominated for the mid-season player of the year. He's just so cute! Tehe!

  • Lebron James - 12 years ago

    Riley kete is a bum.

  • Soccer Superfan - 12 years ago

I would personally like to nominate Tommy Rhodes of Delbarton. His exceptional stat-taking and water filling skills cannot be ignored as one of the reasons for Delbarton's success this year. His stats are always accurate and neatly done. Also, a recent state-wide poll was taken in which qualified "Water experts" not only tasted the water provided to soccer teams, but also examined the preparation process. The conclusive decision was made that Rhodes' water was the best in the state, and the sole reason for Mike Moshier's scoring. Hopefully Rhodes can continue his sense of determination to provide the best water possible throughout the second half of the season.

    Anthony Colofranson....100 goals... nuff said

  • djb - 12 years ago

since people can vote as many times as they want, its easy to stuff this ballot box

  • Joseph Burger - 12 years ago

Mike Moshier from the Delbarton School is easily the top mid season player so far this year. Anyone who saw him terrorize the Gonzaga back line knows just how quick, skillful, and elusive Mike can be. He's a clinical finisher and he always knows where to be in front of goal. Mike is also unselfish and excellent at making piercing runs that can quickly breakdown defenses. As a central part of a now nationally ranked Delbarton team, Mike has racked up six goals and eight assists. When he plays tough teams, and he gets the job done. Mike Moshier #17, keep an eye out for him.

  • just a fan!!!!! - 12 years ago

Mike Moshier is clearly the best of the group and lead his team to victory against 2nd nationally ranked Gonzaga Prep with the first goal and two assists in Delbarton's 3-0 win. The re-voting claim is pathetic. Hightstown fan is jealous because no one knows where Hightstown, NJ is and I doubt they have played a state-ranked team, let alone any nationally ranked teams.

  • GATEWAY - 12 years ago

anthony colofranson..google the name people, and dont forget it.. no ones got game like this kid..102 career goals and more to come...speaks for itself

  • NotAHightstownFan - 12 years ago

I dont know anything about these players but to the people who think Delbarton is cheating-thats so stupid because the other people could revote just as many times so... you need to get over yourself dude

  • Go Gators - 12 years ago

Anthony Colofranson is the best player in the state! He just had his 100 goals which a lot of soccer players don't accomplish!

  • Joe Morrison - 12 years ago

I think Mike Moshier is the clearly the stand out player at this point of the season. If you look Moshier has been consistent all year and is setting people up for goals as much as scoring them. Also, Moshier had an outstanding performance against 3rd ranked nationally Gonzaga scoring the game winning goal along with tallying up 2 assists.

  • Hightstown fan - 12 years ago

it obvious that the people voting for Mike Moshier of Delbarton are cheating. They keep re-voting for him and I think it's unfair to the other nominees. I think Colin Stripling of Scotch-Plains should be the midseason player of the year because they are in second and it is obvious that someone is cheating the vote for Delbarton

  • bigblue! - 12 years ago

I think nolan sullivan will be a breakout player who really shines towards the end of the season

  • Julian - 12 years ago

i think julian greer is the best player on the pingry squad. without his exceptional video taking skills i dont think pingry would be nearly as good as they are.

  • Mark Tillday - 12 years ago

Pat Finn is a hero and deserves to be called the best.

  • Riley Kete - 12 years ago

I nominate Drew Higgins from Delbarton. He has 2 goals and an assist. Great example of a team player. Goes to show you dont need to score all the goals to be a force on the pitch.
