Who should be the American League MVP?

Want to add the following. Since the 'Lively Ball Era' (1920) - a period of 92 years - only 11 hitters have ever won a triple crown. All of them are in the Hall of Fame.

Is this really a discussion? A TRIPLE-CROWN (almost) WINNER leading his team to the division title vs a rookie who hit 30 homeruns with his team OUT of contention. Seriously?

Mark McGwire hit 49 homers in 1987 as a rookie and came in 6th place in the MVP voting. Frank Robinson hit 38 in 1956 and was 7th in the MVP voting. I think that if the roles were reversed, and Caldera was the rookie with 30 homers and Trout the Triple Crown Contender (on a winning team) - a lot of "journalist" sports writers wouldn't even know who Caldera was. It saddens me to see this discussed with any degree of seriousness.

With a day left during the regular season, Caldera is Number One in:
    Homers (44), RBIs (139), AVG (.331), SLG (.608), OPS (1.002) and Total Bases (377).
    He is also 2nd in Runs Scored (109), Total Hits (205); 4th in OBP (.394); 7th in 2Bs (40)

You just don't contribute to a team's success any better than this.

MIGUEL CABRERA IS MOST DEFINITELY THE MVP AND TRIPLE CROWN WINNER. HE IS THE BEST HITTER IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES.

You're talking about the wrong players. Adrian beltre should be MVP. Even though the rangers are limping toward the playoffs, they would't be at this poi without him.
