John Mica is the clear winner here. From passing 2 major long term Transportation bills to being the only incumbent to defeat a "Tea Party backed" GOP Freshman, Mica perservered throughtout the 112th Congress to come out on top for the constituents of Florida's 7th CD; a reflection of the faith his constituents have in his ability to get things accomplished in even the most hostile atmosphere.
John Mica's resolute persistence and excellent negotiating skills gave him the juice to accomplish what most said couldn't be done. In passing two major bills (Surface Transportation and FAA) in only 18 months, plus a pipeline safety bill, Rep. Mica had one of the most productive of any committee this congress. In addition to fighting the opposition party, some in his own party threw him under the bus. But he brushed off the tire tracks and stayed on course. Larry the Cable Guy, who is from Mica's district, says it best, "Git er done" That's just what John Mica did, he got it done.
