What do you think of Christine Sinclair's suspension?

Shes a proud Canadian girl as all the Canadian players are. It was totally obvious that either the referee was paid off or just plain, well there is no excuses for her inability to referee. Why she was not investigated shocks me and I think the world. What Christine did and said was because she was right, a proud Canandian and was sticking up for her team members and her feelings needed to be expressed. Even the American girls were embarrassed and could only say its not how you win its winning. Sad

It's funny that many Canadians who watched the game, said and felt the same way. I certainly did.

Firstly I'd like to echo Jeff, what happens to these officials who make game-changing blunders?
My point though is, CBC you aren't offering the choice which most of us feel. which is:

"We understand that what Christine said warrants a suspension and she got what was expected (actually FIFA chickened out a bit as usual) but we don't give a ****, FIFA can go to Hell, and we stand behind Christine all the way".

Nothing they can do, short of replaying the game, will ever make up for the errors made that day by the officials, and the injustice done to Canada. FIFA and the IOC will always have to live with that. However an apology and an admission of guilt would have been a step in the right direction.

If Christine is being punished for her actions/comments, then I would like to know what punishments are being placed on the ref, for her unprofessional actions during the game. And do we dare discuss the actions of the US players for the taunting and bullying of the ref during the game that started this whole mess

She is entitled to her opinion and FIFA is entitled to punish members for slandering each other. Regardless of how heartbreaking the calls were for Sinclair and all of us watching in Canada, they were not necessarily due to unprofessionalism of the ref. As a high profile role model, Sinclair likely understands both the importance of public image and the validity of FIFA's decision.

This decision is utter bull s..t. The comments she made about the ref after the game were exactly correct, the ref was very biased, and gave the americans the game.
FIFA maybe should look into the bad decision making that the referee did during the game, she was very favourable to the American team..
