I'm with Yvonne, I've been a fanatic fan since 1979 and I'm done! It's hasn't been fun to watch this team for YEARS, or worse enjoy a GREAT regular season only to see CLOWNS in the playoffs. Thanks for spending all the fans money folks, you certainly like that part.

I like Norv the person. He has a good personality and takes care of people. He is a good man to coach. His record is declining though and the reason he is not getting fired is the relationships he has built. Instead of alienating the coach (fans and non-fans), look at his qualities and you'll see a dedicated man who takes a resolute approach towards winning.

Norv is not the problem, he is not giving up. If AJ wants to dump him, that'll be an economic decision, but Norv has good chemistry with this club. What needs to happen is San Diego should invest in better or more conditioning staff to develop hardcore players.

It seems the recruiting is good, the talent is good, but players get stupid or act like drama queens about their contracts. The builing of this team into contenders rateher than pretenders begins with support staff...not just one coach.

They need their line amped up and their Linebacker corps second to none. No quitters. Also, Phil Rivers results are terrible...the risks versus reward is not worth him for this team, time to change him up...as well as Ryan Matthews...both lemons.

Lets bring some power football to San Diego to contend with what the contending NFL teams are doing. If Norv isn't good at amping his team up, then start with the support cast...defensive coaches and coordinators first.

Fix the defense, Fire Phil Rivers, and get a tough mentality. This is football, not broadway...have fun and Win Chargers...stop just having fun and Losing.

Superstars you need most are in these positions: ROLB, DT, LG, RG, LT, CB, RB, QB. Improve from defense to offense and you're set. that's your recruiting order this year too...pick up Rex Burhead from Nebraska if you want the type of Running Back this team needs.

This should be the speech norv turner should give to the team. I am tried of the chargers losing every season . I believe that this bye seasons is the season that we. Can make a change by proving to our gave that we still have spark in our bolt. I mean for real we need a super bowl and I AM counting on this seasons team to deliver me one and that we can prove to the nfl, arc , and san Diego plus the fans that we are san Diego chargers and thing will change that and that is a fact.

Plus we could also do with a new stadium

As soon as the Bolts announced Norv Turner was going to replace Marty, I had a feeling that the Chargers were going to be Pretenders and not Contenders. And they wonder why San Diego doesn't want to pay for a new football stadium, after all look what happened to the Padres.

Get rid of AJ Smith. Not just Norv. Just look at all the talent that has left the Bolts. And their inability to recruit any free agents. All roads lead to AJ.

Hell with Rivers playing as badly as he is maybe we should give Charlie Whitehurst a shot or maybe would should resign Billy Volek. Turner has never been a successful head coach and although he is mistakenly called an offensive genius he is also questionable as a play caller. However, since LT passed his prime the Chargers have lived and died by Phil Rivers performance. He consistently is under throwing balls to his receivers that he didn't used to. I also wonder about the amount of plays that Rivers decides to check the ball down or is sacked. Are our receivers really that incapable of getting open that they can all be covered while the opposition brings a blitz or is River missing open receivers? I used to believe the argument that it was the O-lines fault for not giving him enough time, but there were several plays last time when he had days back in the pocket and could not find a receiver, leading to a three yard gain on a check down in the second half which in turn lead to yet another three and out. I'm as bitter as I've ever been as a Chargers fan and given the painful history of the Chargers, thats really saying something. Mathews is incapable of carrying the offense in the same way LT did during the Marty-ball era, and the only way the Chargers will be competitive in the playoffs, let alone the superbowl is if Phil Rivers can return to elite form again.

I have been a fan since 1976. I have finally given up. I'm sick of the same old story, new day !

I said it when they hired him it want work the buddy buddy plan don't always work

Norv did not throw a pass or drop a ball but, he calls the plays; he makes the decisions on the side line; he makes the halftime adjustments; he prepares the team all week; who else would you blame for the teams losses. I am not sure why but Antonio Gates was on fire in the 1st half, but they went away from him in the 2nd half. I blame Norv for not telling River's to get the ball to him. I don't know how you get to keep your job as a headcoach in the NFL if you can't notice the defensive rush is killing your offense because your QB is straight drop back passer. Headcoaches are supposed to be the first ones to notice things like that and make adjustments (i.e. roll the pocket or shorten the routes). Norv's partially insane because his business-as-usual coaching style doesn't afford him the abiltiy to notice he is doing the same thing, with the same results. Most NFL teams have figured out Norv, it's time to move on ASAP. May be next year, may be in OC>

Fire Norv, AJ, Rivers, and San Diego. Wipe the slate clean and move to LA. Rebuild in a city that demands excellence.

fire turner & rivers and then move out-a S.D

  • dan wierck - 12 years ago

Yes fire Norv. He is an offensive coordinator not a head coach. He stands on the sideline looking down at his playbook and often does not even know what is occurring in the game. As head Coach he is responsible for everything that occurs on the field. Last week Gaiter is hurt and Norv misses it while the announcer sees it and predicts a sack. Last year he missed Dielman getting a concussion and letting him play on. The man fell to his knees and stumbled back and waved off help. Norv missed it and Dielman suffered a grand mal seizure. So not only does Norv screw up ball games he very nearly cost Dielman his life. Charger fan for 41 years. Remember when Coryell replaced Protho and immediately won 8 in a row. Coaching means a ton.

fire norv a couple years ago. anyone who says no to this question doesnt understand the question.

back in the eighties , detroit was beating up on washington real bad. they had the best running back in history barry sanders. but in the second half, they decided to throw the ball on almost every down.........you know..........to "switch it up abit" on washington. well washington came back and won the game.....wayne fontes was fired.

Norv, has had his time in the sun. Has anyone seen emotion from this man. Stands there on the sidelines with his head phones on like a manikin. Chargers need someone with fire who can get this team to play with reckless abandon (Grudan, Cower or Beilch sound good) and care about the people their to root them on. The last two weeks with nice sized leads at the half, and turned sour the last 30 minutes, is due to a lack luster halftime talk. I don't think Norv could start a fire with matches. And take AJ Smith with him while your at it.

  • Jeff - 12 years ago

Of course you don't fire Norv now, during the bye week..., but Deano should already have Wade Phillips on speed dial. Last night was officially the sound of the 2005-2009 Chargers "window" slamming shut, so there's no sense in recounting the many "might have been's" under the Dean Spanos ownership. And that's the problem; 20+ years on the job and still an apprentice. Say what you will, but last night both Peyton Manning's AND former-QB/GM's John Elway's forged steel WILLPOWER were on display. There is no equivalency in San Diego, period. Only..., build us another free stadium please.

  • kevin - 12 years ago

Although Norv is cosidered a great offensive coordinator, he has not won as a head coach anywhere. He did not throw the interceptions but he has to take some blame as the teams leader.

  • Alfredo - 12 years ago

    Too late for that now.

Owner lays it out for GM and Norv, "sorry you guys are out of here unless you get to the Super Bowl...........understand!!"

  • Nate - 12 years ago

Schilken - you're from L.A. Stick to Dodgers/Lakers/Galaxy/"when-are-we-gonna-get-an-NFL-team?" talk. The Bolts are of no concern to you. You're THAT FAN that talks trash about everybody else's team...but doesnt have one of his own.

  • dylan - 12 years ago

no they shouldn't fire him San Diego isnt as talented as the fans think norv isn't turning the ball over 6 times or not defending the pass stop blaming the coach and go after your under achieving offense

  • chuck leigh - 12 years ago

Not during the bye week, should have been done @the end of last seaaon along with the GM for letting all that talent slip away over the past 6years. Right now would only make it worse. I wish we would hire Tom cable @ the end of the year.

  • sue - 12 years ago

Yes Turner makes the calls...but...hello WHO threw the ball....everyone always blame the coaches..but blames the players...

  • AaronS - 12 years ago

I like what Jim is saying. A true Chargers fan. I do not like what the rest of you are saying. Typical Chargers fans. How can you blame four INTs and 2 fumbles on Norv? You blamed Marty for all those losses and sung the praises of Norv, NOW its Norvs fault? You guys have earned your reputation for being deluded. No Super Bowls to speak of. Classic chokers and typical no blame on the players. Just like Cubs fans. As long as you keep letting your players off the hook you will continue to be LOSERS.

  • Grandpa-Jon - 12 years ago

Turner lacks coach-leadership, he should have pulled Rivers out of the game to compose himself?

  • Dave - 12 years ago

Should have never been hired in the first place. AJ should go with him. It's time for that tyrant to leave town as well.

  • Denny - 12 years ago

Rivers has a RB and a TE that's it! Of course he does terrible when the rest of the offense is under performing. Along with a coach that Turns the gas off after he has a LEAD! Rivers needs an aggressive coach who can harness his PASSION for the game. Norv's record is getting worse each year! If they get rid of Rivers he will win a Superbowl somewhere else. Don't follow the curse

  • JIm - 12 years ago

I have been a Charger fan since I was 5 years old. I am 46. This much storied franchise without a real story needs to start again. No matter who the coach is, no matter who plays quarterback, receiver or safety, this team loses when it counts EVERY time. The Ice Bowl. New England in 2006. A loser franchise which lacks the heart to get the job done. The talent/coach do not matter. Teams like Pittsburgh do it with heart when they dont have the talent. The Chargers possess no heart. Hate to say it, but its true.

  • George - 12 years ago

Chargers need a coach that will coach Rivers on every play. No way Rivers should have been dropping back to pass on 3rd and 6, in fg range, just to fumble and have the tides turn. Run the ball, kick a fg if you have to, an avoid the big mistakes.
