You can always forward emails to your gmail account, but having your own domain name is, I think, the way to go. A nice professional touch. And you're probably already paying for it!
I think most domain-based email programs will also allow you to set a catch-all address. So if someone sends an email to music@jocelynmorlock.com or info@jocelynmorlock.com or liver@jocelymorlock.com...it all gets to you.
If you have your heart set on gmail, jmorlock@gmail is the better choice. Shorter is always better.
