"Boycott their opening game," Linda? I have a better idea--boycott them all! After 44 years and in today's economy, it will be nice to have the money I dropped there over the course of the season to spend elsewhere. And think of what I can do with the hour I wasted each way, driving out to the ballpark.
My personal choice for new team name is the "Reading Blight". Thanks to team management for giving the vast majority of your fans (and the team's longtime announcer) the proverbial finger on this one.

I don't understand the reason for the name change other than it being to make more money.
Berks county is a place where tradition is very important and having the name Reading Phillies is a tradition for many many years.
Change is good sometimes, but this I don't understand at all.
Terrible idea ! I think we should boycott opening game. They must have known it would be an issue for fans, otherwise why announce they are changing only 2 weeks before they unveil new name, etc.?
