The adults can take care of themselves during the arguments, fights, etc, but the children need an advocate on their behalf overseeing the events. My child/grandchild never had a suspicious broken bone, but I would insist it be investigated if that happened. This type thing can escalate when that behavior is usual in the family and a child could accidentally be seriously injured next time.
