I am a Filipino. Honestly, I am a bit ashamed and somewhat proud to call my self a Filipino. I understand why other people think of our nationality as mind boggling idiots but isn't that a little too inconsiderate? Not everyone in the country was born and raised as creatures incapable of realizing common sense and, most probably, a lot of people can see that; However, many others tend to look at people's faults rather than their good attributes. Many don't keep in mind that not everyone in the world is perfect and well educated like them, and that doesn't mean that you should judge or critic the majority just because you do not see everyone else as you expect to see them. Filipinos are NOT idiots, some of them just need to be reminded between what is right and what is wrong. Blame the lack of good education and funny traditions rather than the people themselves. Besides, no one in the world is suppose to be considered or is actually a brainless idiot because everyone, including Filipinos, has the capacity to become a lot smarter than many people underestimate them to be.

I definitely voted #1. I don't hate being a filipino, it's just that I hate majority of the overall society's actions. Blunders I call them. Intentional ones, actually. It's like a cesspool of scammers of all colours. I facepalm every time I hear about the government's inactivity most of the time. There are times I like Aquino III, but frustrated most of the time of how so slow everything is there in doing good. Ironic, we can do a whole lot more terrible things faster than rats going after our garbage. Oh, the misery to be surrounded by incompetent, wily little people (as my dad sometimes refers to them) !

I believe it's the lack of good education that is really hampering everything there. If majority have been exposed to the right education, they wouldn't even be under these other incompetent scamming types who still plague all systems there. I truly understand what you're going through. The only groups there that I have respect left are the indigenous minorities who haven't yet abandoned their centuries old cultures.

At least in my view, they don't go on to scam others and did all what the others did for their greed.

Of course I do not believe # 3 above, "Not at all true..." is true but I doubt that the percentage of stupid, ignorant people is greater here than anywhere else in the world. There is a big difference between stupid and ignorant but they are used interchangably on YOU blog. I think, for the most part, that ignorant applies in most cases that you write about. I have seen some events, however, that were beyond stupid. "I held the door for a young mother who was carrying a baby and struggling with a toddler. Two young Filipino barged through ahead of her and almost knocked her down." Inconsiderate, you bet.
