With the biggest free-agent hitters gone, who should the Mariners target?

Throwing money (blindly) at Hamilton wouldn't have been wise.

It all comes down to the available budget - who knows what the monetary constraints are? Not going to blame any GM for not spending money that the ownership doesn't have or won't make available. (note: this is not the same as being satisfied in going without)

Additionally, I'd view Hamilton's signing as another triumph of big market clubs vs. everyone else. No one else has access to the potential revenue streams that a NY or a Los Angeles franchise do - so many more people concentrated within those markets.

If Jack Z was not allowed by management to throw the moon at Hamilton, he'd be better off working for a team that wants to win. If it was him that was not aggressive enough, then he's the wrong guy for Seattle. Hamilton was our only shot at a big bat this off season and we blew it. Whatever improvement our young guys make, if any, won't be enough to mean a competetive season. We can now officially write off the 2013 baseball season.

I am sick and tired of ownership passing up free agents. trade some prospects in return for run producing bats....
As of now I might as well support the oakland A's no budget and still place higher in standings then the M;s... Sad :(
