That because I (owner of the Angels) underplays Mike Trout's importance on this team. I only make billboards and flood the stores with merchandise to those players I hand out massive multi million dollar contracts to.

Why is Mike Trout winning the American League Rookie of the Year not on the ballot? That's a pretty lame omission. I added him in the write-in section.

Even I voted for the Kings.

KINGS RULE! Positively no doubt, this was the best thing to happen to LA in 2012 and in my humble opinion, overshadowed every other sporting event. Kings fans have now been vindicated, and the LA Times coverage of the Stanley Cup Champions on June 12th was absolutely superb!
Go Kings GO!!!

If the Kings do not win this poll, then I lose all hope in my fellow LA sports fans.
Without a doubt, it should be the Kings by a MILE. Don't get me wrong, what the Galaxy have done with Beckham and Keane the past two seasons was special. But in terms of it only being in the MLS, the NHL has been around forever and the Kings have been around for much longer, and they absolutely dominated.
The Stanley Cup is a much more storied trophy in North American sports than the Philip Anschutz MLS Trophy. No offense, and I am a Galaxy fan too.

I just should have thrown my money into the ocean, or I should have signed Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings, then maybe I would get some respect in this town from 30 miles away.

LA Kings winning their 1st Stanley Cup after 45 years of franchise is definitely the best moment in SoCal in 2012! I want Hockey back! GO KINGS GO!

Waited 42 years to watch my LA KINGS skate the Stanley Cup around Staples Center. Congrats to the Galaxy, but that is a pale 2nd. GKG!

Galaxy over Kings because:
A) back to back champions.
B) 4th championship in 17 seasons.
C) one of the biggest stars of the game internationally announced it would be his final match in the league.

LA Galaxy win back to back championships! Soccer is the global game. The MLS Cup final was broadcast in 150 countries. The Stanley Cup win is cool, but it's not as big as the MLS Cup win.

LA Galaxy Back to Back Championships. Go G's!

The Kings winning the Stanley Cup for their first championship in the 45-year history of the team is really the only LA sports moment that should be considered, and I'm not even a hockey fan.
Was there a bigger sports moment here in the LA area in 2012? Not a chance. What the Kings did was epic in the way they dominated, and it was historic, both for the team and for Los Angeles.
If any of the other moments wins, it will be totally undeserved.
