Should the Nats trade Michael Morse? (Give reasons below)

To say that Span is a better outfielder than Morse is like saying a Ferrari drives better than a Corolla. And play 2B? Are you kidding me? Don't think the second base bag can hold 23o lbs for a whole game.

Yes, trade him. Tyler Moore is more fit for the number of available at-bats, and the Nats' farm system is depleted. We will miss the Beast badly- he is one of the most popular Nats ever. Still, he has value the team should take advantage of in a trade.

He was drafted as a shortstop, keep Morse and play him at 2B....

My biggest fear is that Rizzo will panic at some point and trade him too cheaply, despite his public comments to the contrary. We will get virtually nothing in return or nothing that begins to equate to what we are losing.

I'm still dumbfounded by the Nats signing of Span, since that is the addition that essentially cost Mike Morse a starting spot on this team. We are giving up our biggest power hitter, by far, in return for a better defensive outfielder???? Makes NO sense to me, considering the Nats problems in scoring runners last year.

His big bat is WAY to valuable to the Nats to trade him. In fact, I prefer keeping him over either Span in the OF or LaRoche at first base. He's younger than LaRoche, much cheaper and a better hitter, though LaRoche has him beat on defense. As to Span?? No way can Span ever equal Morse's power at the plate, though Span is the better outfielder.

Last year, Nat's biggest offensive problem was leaving runners in scoring position. If they trade Morse, this problem will increase a lot, as we lose our biggest power hitter.

A great player to have for when one of the outfielders or LaRoche gets hurt. Also can't lose Take On Me.

The probability is that someone unfortunately will miss some time. We need to be able to plug someone in and not skip a beat. The Beast is that someone. Heck, I'd even be ready for him to take over for someone if they're struggling.

Davey can get Morse 450 at bats, even if LaRoche, Span, Harper and Werth stay healthy. But they won't. Werth missed half of last year; LaRoche almost all of 2011; Span has been hurt a lot. Having the big 9th starting player is what a penant winner should have. Keep him.

I know on paper Span is that prototypical speedster to set the table for harp, zim, Laroche etc...but if 2 months into the season he's hittin .240 and morse is somewhere hittin .300+ we won't look too smart. Especially with Harper & Werth both capable of playing center at a high level. Love the idea of span and what he can offer, just saying he better produce if we trade a big basher and fan favorite in Michael Morse. Go Nats!

Morse is too menacing a slugger to rot on a bench as a role player or pinch hitter de luxe. Too much of a nice guy it also seems to deny him the opportunity of playing every day elsewhere.

He is an everyday player and he won't get enough playing time if he stays

What Cathi said. Love Morse. Will really really miss him.but he's too good to relegate to the bench.wouldn't be fair to him.

It's probably best for him - but he's so awesome I would hate to see him go. He's my favorite Nat.
