Should illegal immigrants who were brought to Colorado as children and grew up here be eligible for in-state tuition, so long as they pursue citizenship? (Poll Closed)

Gotta love the way the survey's worded. "Yes. Having educated citizens is a worthy goal." I offer a slightly different wording. Yes. Having educated illegal aliens is a worthy goal. or No. Having educated citizens is a worthy goal. Illegals currently have to pay the same tuition that any other US citizen that is not a Colorado resident pays. It can't be helped that some children of US citizens lived in other states due to their parents decisions. We should give in-state tuition to everyone.

Children cannot be punished for any other crime of their parents in this country. Disallowing this could set up a terrible precident. Do you really want you child hampered by every legal or moral transgression you have eve committed? In-state tuition does not give them access to federal subsidized loans, in state tuition credits, or most grants and scholarships that out-of-state children of citizens will be able to tap. Have you seen the rates and terms on the private loans? They survive past the death of the student in some cases?! Blocking them from a reasonable chance at an education after we have already paid for what they have provided seems a ghastly waste of taxpayer and human resources.

Really? 68% of your readers believe these children, who were brought here by their parents, trying to make a living and feed and clothe them, and who, by the way have completed high school and have good enough grades to qualify for one of Colorado's state colleges(that IS what we are talking about here)...these children who have lived in Colorado most, if not all of their lives, should have to pay Out of State tuition in order to attend college?

If they have graduated from a Colorado HS and qualify for college, they have earned the "privilege" of attending a state college at the same cost as other Colorado students. They are not asking for "handouts" here; it is not costing you anything....I am shocked and appalled at my fellow Colorado citizens who are so adamant that these children should be punished thusly. What "illegal" behavior is this encouraging in these young people? Are you seriously suggesting they should graduate from HS, then move to a country where they have no ties and have never lived and try to follow our complex immigration policy to become citizens?

What part of the word "illegal" isn't making sense to people? If someone is in the country illegally, why are they granted the same privilages as those who are?
