The standards are too low, the respect for them is too low, plus the expectations are too high. Bad combination. Seen it up close. Teachers, social workers, public defenders...people really don't have any idea.

I really wish teachers (of core classes, not electives) would have to get a Master's degree to teach...like in Finland. It's a prestigious profession in Finland and only the top 1% of graduate classes get to teach. Of course, they pay the teachers well there.
